    PTR-91 Questions

You guys talk of 'clipped and pinned' lowers. Would it be safe to say this is a clipped but not pinned SEF that someone put on this SAR8? I have a SAR3 and would like to get an SEF as well but never understood what I needed. Not trying to hijack the thread but figured it was related. Thanks...

.41 Mag Snake Loads - shotshell

41maguser The reason for the two powders was that I read someone else used them successfully for something similar. I didn't want to spend a lot of time and loads lokking for the best so just went with them. Lots of other choices - some undoubtedly better - I'm sure. If you try others. let...

Argentine mauser won't chamber reloads 30-06

Thanks rc, I'll try that. Maybe I'll take Matt's advice and try a few 308 bullets and see if anything works well. Jim K - I was able to (barely) stick a 311 bullet in the fired 06 case from this rifle. That told me that I should have enough neck room to fire 311 bullets. I was going to...

Argentine mauser won't chamber reloads 30-06

rcmodel, I have the same issue as the OP. Bought an old Argentine Mauser that was marked 30-06. Fired 06 factory ammo and it was great at 50 yds but all over the place at 100yds. Guy at range knew these guns well and said that in the 60's when 7.65 ammo was hard to get, importers rechamberd...

SIG P230 .380 (video included for any interested)

I was just about to recommend the 230 in 32 when I noticed someone talks about the "elusive 32". I have a SS 230 and two blue in 380 and 1 blue 32 - all sweeet guns...and I have a set of those factory wood grips too - but haven't decided which baby should wear them!;)

.41 Mag Snake Loads - shotshell

Constrictor, They may be "your" friends but they are NOT "our" friends. I'll make you a deal, you keep them all in MO and I won't kill any more...but the ones in PA - esp. my back yard...are TOAST!!! Klausman, Heat gun is like a hair dryer (which would work just as well if you can get it...

.41 Mag Snake Loads - shotshell

"I'll have to get my wife to give you some pointers on photography--yours is worse than mine, and that's saying something. " LOL!! Believe it or not, I was a photographer back in the day....of 35mm film of course...and I do OK with my digital camera and time...BUT with my cheap phone and in...

.41 Mag Snake Loads - shotshell

Rich, Here's an update with a couple more pics that might help. I also checked the powder I tried so far (as best as I can remember since I can't find my notes yet). 1) start with primed/sized case and add powder (5.9g. Titegroup or 7.6g. HP38 - ??) 2) take 2-1/2" plain shotgun column...

.41 Mag Snake Loads - shotshell

Yes, I heard of people (and almost started) making them out of 30-30, 303, or even 414 supermag - but it required sizing the end with a different die to fit the cylinder and like you, I knew I wasn't going to keep making them. If I make 25 of them, they'll probably last me a lifetime - but if I...

.41 Mag Snake Loads - shotshell

The titegroup has the nicer patter but the HP38 did ok - some of it depended on howtight the petals were melted, etc. I think I'll make some more with Titegroup but wouldn't fear a snake with either one.

.41 Mag Snake Loads - shotshell

Here are my test results. Look at the front vs. back of the milkjugs. Pellets destroyed the front and dented the back of water-filled jugs - I think that should work well on snakes!! I shot from about 10' or so...normal snake distances. The patterns were about 16" diameter and had very...

.41 Mag Snake Loads - shotshell

OK, I've asked for months now - here and elsewhere - even tried to highjack the 41 Mag Association thread :D - but I tried a couple things and think I have found a decent load! But of course, I'm always open to new ideas and thoughts for making this better. I decided to load 41 mag shot...

FN BHP Hi Power Questions? Year? Counterfeit?

Thanks Tarosean, I'd let you have it for 101.12 but shipping would be an extra $800 :D I like it and need to get it out and shoot it now...but I guess I'm going to have to settle with the very little info I have. I have to assume it's an early 60's commercial from W. Germany most likely...

Anybody like .32acp just for fun?

I love shooting 32's...and what's better is that its a great caliber to teach women to shoot. Some are scared of recoil and 32 lets them experience it (unlike 22) without scaring them. i don't shoot as often as I'd like since I haven't bought 32 dies yet and as already mentioned, factory...

FN BHP Hi Power Questions? Year? Counterfeit?

Thanks Tarosean/Onmile, Sounds like I may have to assume it is a custom serial number range for Silesia....somewhere in the 50's or 60's...pre 53 or post 60 (60-62 most likely). Thanks!

FN BHP Hi Power Questions? Year? Counterfeit?

It has an internal extractor and does have the mag disconnect (safety). Markings are: Liege (pinnaple) proof, Nitro proof (PV), and U w/ a star over it on barrel. PV and U proofs also on RS trigger guard. SN is actually 143,6xx ....sorry.
