How much are we willing to give up?

I agree with this part of your post. The GCA of '68 established "Common Sense" background checks - which are conducted by the FBI. So, one has to ask, do the brilliant children who chew on laundry detergent to get high, even KNOW that we ALREADY HAVE BACKGROUND CHECKS? The '68 NFA ended the...

How much are we willing to give up?

That explains a lot, take a look at the sentence in bold and italics... the courts operate under, and only within the context of, the authority of the US Constitution. Court cases were NEVER intended to sublimate the duly elected representative of this country. They were NOT intended to MAKE...

How much are we willing to give up?

No, actually. The Constitution was intended to be the law of the land. The court was NEVER intended to interpret the US Constitution. It was written in plain language (for the time), and is only 6 pages long. The last page, The Bill if RIGHTS, lists the restrictions placed on GOVERNMENT, by the...

How much are we willing to give up?

Yes, and as I recall...they blamed the shooter that day...not the access to the scoped, bolt action, hunting rifle, he used to kill college kids...right?

How much are we willing to give up?

Thanks for reminding me to add the specifics to Heller. I've updated it, and in Heller the court specifically finds that the 2nd amendment is for individuals - not collectives of individuals. ...and the point remains: NOTHING in Heller (2008), McDonald (2010), nor Caetano (2016) allows for ANY...

How much are we willing to give up?

This is a forced perspective. Each time a school sooting occurs - a preconceived solution restricting the purchase or acquisition of guns - is rolled out. The move to make 21 the new minimum age to purchase a gun is specious. You clearly have not been paying attention. The murderer purchased...

How much are we willing to give up?

This is a poor attempt to obfuscate, but the Bill of RIGHTS were never intended to be "evolved" - they enumerate the 10 MINIMUM INALIENABLE Human RIGHTS. The Constitution does NOT give us these RIGHTS, it only ACKNOWLEDGES our RIGHTS. It was further described that the RIGHTS come from "natures...

Why Would A Florida Pistol Range Ask For My CCW?

Yeah, "stop & frisk" worked in NYC...but, in retrospect, profiling is only acceptable when is not YOU being profiled. Besides it's NEVER even been legal? Some say ending all gun sales in the state would work better. As a matter of fact those same do-gooders who implemented "stop & frisk" just...

Why Would A Florida Pistol Range Ask For My CCW?

See again, the purpose of a concealed carry permit is that YOU know you're carrying, but no one else does. You certainly understand the direction we seem to be drifting in this country - that gun owners are narrow-minded and negligent and the cause behind all of the gun violence in the country...

Why Would A Florida Pistol Range Ask For My CCW?

The only time I have shown my CCP is to avoid the 3 day wait period to purchase a firearm. Anyone needing that information isn't entitled to it. We've already established that it was my fault for not recognizing that the CCP was stuck to my license. The concept at play here is that should not...

In the market for a pocket 380

I'd say save for a bit more and get the Sig P-938 - unbelievable that you can get a 9mm in a .380 pocket pistol frame. Yeah there was some trouble with the slide-stop spring (easily replaced if it even proves to still be a problem). The smallest all metal 9mm pocket pistol on the market. The...

Why Would A Florida Pistol Range Ask For My CCW?

You may need to offer an example of how I'm embellishing? I'll be glad to address it if need be, you just didn't offer an example for this skepticism.

Why Would A Florida Pistol Range Ask For My CCW?

My point was - I don't understand why they would need it? No one, anywhere in the state, has even asked if I have one, let alone made a copy of it? Especially considering the fact that I asked what he had done with it - and never really got an answer. As I tried to indicate - and factoring in...

Why Would A Florida Pistol Range Ask For My CCW?

Thanks! Thanks! Maybe I am overreacting. I appreciate the feedback from all of you, especially @guyfromohio - I will call and discuss it with the range owner. Since I'm new to the range, I figure I have one "play dumb" moment. I'll explain it to him and ask him what it's all about, and I'll be...

Why Would A Florida Pistol Range Ask For My CCW?

Unexpected experience, recently found a new indoor range nearby, went to check it out. While filling out the paperwork/waivers - I was asked for my drivers license. I pulled this out and my CCW came out with it. The guy entering my data into their computer quickly picked both license & CCW up...

Guns that seem to disappear off the planet...

After I brought home my $400 SKS - I wish I could find the $300 rifles I saw last year! mortablunt: I was interested in one of those SVT 38's about a year ago, too. They only made a few and they weren't very reliable. The 7.62 x 54r tended to destroy the rifle.

    What's your "never buy" gun?

As a new SKS owner who bought this rifle because of budgets contraints forced upon me by my government (otherwise I would have bought one of their MilSurps...)...I was actually impressed to find that since this thread began - about 4 years ago & 47 pages ago - I only found SKS listed about a...

    45 acp Ammo

AWESOME!! Thanks guys, you would not believe what a (small) local gunshop guy near my house actually charges for re-loading lessons...of course (he managed to say with a straight face), he provides the equipment AND it's "hands on" for everyone...but the lesson charges are as much as a beginner...
