Velocity vs Bullet weight. Here we go.

As some have mentioned the adrenaline level of the target is the biggest difference in my mind. Even a totally incapacitating fatal shot is almost useless if the target has already received his adrenaline surge. When I was hunting I had a buck one time that heard me click a safety off, but...

    Surprises at the dermatologist.

My wife kept telling me I had 2 black spots on the back of my neck and to have them looked at. She told me 2 or 3 more times and then I got a call saying your appointment IS so I went. Biopsy showed 1 was melanoma and the other was cells that were soon to become melanoma. I went back and they...

Open mike reveals N.J. senators’ contempt for gun owners, confiscation goal

I guess the anti-gun side can never tell the lie "We don't want to take away your guns" ever again. Sounds like an agenda to me. http://www.examiner.com/article/open-mike-reveals-n-j-senators-contempt-for-gun-owners-confiscation-goal

    17HMR questions

That actually played into my decision as it has been the same here. I had a lot of curiosity about .17HMR. I watched the videos, read the posts, talked to other owners, but had never fired one. Strange too since I am a Range Safety Officer at a large outdoor pistol and rifle club. As such I have...

    Winchester 24 gun safe

I bought mine from Tractor Supply because at the time it had the better door kit already installed. After much research and the usual internet misinformation I settled on it. It is a great safe for the money and yes the door is loose. It is intentional. A safe dehumidifier works by pulling in...

    17HMR questions

I went out today to see what was left in the LGS. I have an FFL and basically there is nothing available in 17HMR except a few CZs. I've been wanting something flat shooting and rimfire to get into some rimfire competitions at the club. I have a couple of 22s but why buy another? Time to try...

Why keep bringing up the 2nd Amendment?

There is no opposing view point. He/or she isn't trying to learn anything. They are simply trying to raise and saturate their anti-gun views and rhetoric in the search engines so that anybody doing a search only gets their ideas to come up. Since most people only go 1 or 2 pages in, it's easy...

"Gun Control Central to Obama's Legacy"

My hope is that his legacy does not involve being the last president of the US because of a second revolution from his sheer stupidity and arrogance. Sadly I now believe that this will be the case. He is going to shove massive gun control down our throats and we will need to respond accordingly...

    SCCY second hand range report

I have been to the plant over in Daytona Beach several times. They are a good bunch of people and will honor their warranty without any hesitation or question. Yes they have had some serious issues in the past. Early models had a frame cracking issue causing it to not fire every time (multiple...

    1911 R1 vs SR 1911

I have had an R1 for 9 months and I love it. Just a bit of info. Contrary to what the "internet" says, the Remington 1911 are 100% American made in NY. This has been stated by Remington on several occasions, but the rumor persists. It is tight and very accurate. It has a match grade stainless...

The new Remmington 1911 and FMJ's

I have an R1. It shoots anything I have fed it. FMJ, JHP, SWC, FP. I reload too so it has eaten a lot of FP and SWC plated bullets. Never has a problem. Remington puts that in there to cover their A?? and not have to deal with crazy reloaders and out of spec bullets.

    Shipped a handgun UPS today

You're right. I made the incorrect ASSumption that being Federal it would be the same every where. Turns out it is not. As usual, states get involved and change the rules. Federal law is exactly like you said. Some states force a counter form both sending and receiving. Some force interstate...

    Shipped a handgun UPS today

This is not completely true. It is correct that I must ship to a license holder as is the normal requirement. What is different is that I DO NOT have to fill out a form 4473 transfer form. I also do not have to turn the gun in to a local FFL for transfer so the form can be filed and stored. I...

    Shipped a handgun UPS today

The primary reason for the FFL transfer is to track ownership, collect taxes, and insure background checks are completed. Since returning a gun to a gunsmith or manufacturer gunsmith for repair is not a change in ownership different rules apply. Excerpts from ATF FFL FAQs: Q: A firearm is...

    Shipped a handgun UPS today

I understannd what your saying NavyLT, but UPS was wanting to do a FFL to FFL transfer which wasn't required. They also wanted me to get a copy of the companies FFL for address verification only, which many manufacturers will not/ do not do. Many manufacturers do not even do any sale or transfer...

    Shipped a handgun UPS today

I shipped a 1911 (broken recoil assenbly/rod) back to the manufacturer yesterday by UPS with all the accompanying crap. I went in and they said I had to have an FFL # of the receiver to verify the receiving address. I explained to them that was true in a sale or transfer, this was neither. It...
