So I looked at the 3 new models of the new Remington online, and they all say FMJ ammo only, if you read the specs. There goes the idea of using this as a carry gun. I am assuming it's a range gun only, or competition target pistol. I wonder if all of these new offerings are similar, back to the web pages for a look at the new springfeld and Ruger.

That is why they named the AMT Hardballer the hardballer. Although, Mine (AMT Hardballer) feeds everything I put in it. I would not be scared off by the factory saying to use FMJ in it. That is a cooperate out so people don't start sending them back for not feeding JHPs before the gun is even broken in.

While there is no excuse for not feeding modern JHP's, keep in mind that corbon powerballs exist ;) That gives you a quality JHP round in anything that will feed ball.

They probably say that in case you get one that won't feed anything other than hardball so they won't have to put up with your complaints.

"Hey! If it feeds ball, that's all we promise. Go play with your new toy and stop bothering us."

I've got several original/correct USGI pistols from both wars that can't tell the difference between ball and hollowpoints...and they even run just fine with the H&G #68 200 LSWC...and they were built in the day that hardball was all that was available.

It's because Remington knows that a ton of fudds with unrealistic and uneducated expectations are going to try some nappy terrible ammo, that works fine in thier Glock, in their 1911.

Then they're going to flip out that thier 1911 deosn't work well. "Well it works fine in my Glock. Derp."

Next month there will be two dozen threads of "My Rem 1911 won't run well on PMC, Blazer, Rem UMC, Wolf, Chinaboom, or Blue Bear ammo. Waaa." Followed by "What's the best 1911?, but it has to be under $19.95."

1911's need a little extra effort. You have to do your homework to get the best out of them. I'll bet these Rem 1911s will run fine with the "usual fixes".

Corbon and Rem GS should feed fine. I've had good luck with Win JHP and Fed JHP ammo in my 1911s.

1911s have always worked fine for me.

Kimber should try this Remington tactic of only guaranteeing FMJ ammo. I bet it would make their life easier not having to deal with all those fudds too.

Fudds, pretty much sums it up.

Might not need any fixin' at all. Most of the time, it's the magazines.

Oh, yeah. Purt near fergot. Leave the feed ramp alone. It'll only bring ya grief.

Ok 1911, I just spent 2 days looking at Rock Island 45's, my gun stre guy although young is a competition shooter 1911 all the way he is a certfied everythin ex military, bla bla. Says get the 5" RI mil spec. I like commander size for ability to carry. Since I respect your opinion should I wait for one of these new fancy pats triplets that came out. Or get the RI in commander or tactical length, and have a good base to work from?, thanks

I have an R1. It shoots anything I have fed it. FMJ, JHP, SWC, FP. I reload too so it has eaten a lot of FP and SWC plated bullets. Never has a problem. Remington puts that in there to cover their A?? and not have to deal with crazy reloaders and out of spec bullets.
