    hi point 9mm carbine questions.

Love them! Hi point carbines are awesome. I haven't owned one in .40; bought .45 and 9mm. Sold the .45 when I consolidated on ammo. I also have both old and new style. Accurate and fun. A bit heavy, but recoil is minimal. Did I say fun? Mine have been very reliable.

CLASSIC EXAMPLE: Why I Don't Open Carry.

Not the same I have not read all the responses, but the Orlando shooter was intimately familiar with the club, the layout and the that there was an armed security person at the door. Of course that was target #1. He probably knew each of the regular security people by sight. He knew where they...

Thomas Deeb founder of Hi-Point Firearms has passed away.

I love the carbines! I've owned 4595, 4095 and 995. Kept 995 for commonality. I'll eventually collect one for my sons. Tough, fun, reliable. I've fired the pistols and would gladly own them. Mr. Deebs founded a great American business. My condolences.

So many Texans want gun licenses, DPS adding staff to handle paperwork

Warp's right It has been legal to travel with a firearm in your vehicle for years in Texas. Yes, loaded and in reach. I'd prefer mine on me, like the other million Texans. :)

Picking up a gun for me.

Once you answer "yes" to question 2, its gotta be a no go. Interstate means FFL, almost always, and that includes if you were buying in person.

    How pro 2A is Colorado?

I posted but my login expired... Doh! I'll pm my phone #. I moved recently from Texas (I'm a Dallas kid), so can fill you in. Maybe I'll repost from home tonight.

    Gun superstitions/phrases

Kevin and lxd55, I would agree P47, because it looks like there is a 4th bay in the wing for ammo, and the Jug had a complement of 8x50cal.

If I move to Colorado, what am I getting myself into?

Many thanks! I appreciate the conversation! Thanks Robert for your insights. Bill, your comment made me laugh! :D I might land there before long!

If I move to Colorado, what am I getting myself into?

Thanks for the prompt responses! I appreciate it. I would be considering Broomfield/Thornton area for home, and work in Louisville. So, it sounds like if I transport mags with my personal property, I'm good. I just won't be able to purchase any after I become a resident, or import them in any...

If I move to Colorado, what am I getting myself into?

Suppose I take a job and move to the Denver area. What are the options if someone owned and AR with 30 round mags, or a pistol with 17 round mags or a pistol caliber carbine with 30 round mags? What is a guy supposed to do?

    9mm handgun or 22 rifle?

Here's my vote: I would get a Keltec P11 or SCYY CPX. I've owned both, they are reliable, good shooters in 9mm. They hold 10+1. I have 2 SCYYs now, and am looking for more. You can scrape together a $100ish in the future and find a .22lr (Model60 or Stevens Mk2) at a pawn shop, online or...

    Decent Trade?

I don't mind trading guns to get a gun, configuration or caliber I want. I have never (YET) paid $1200 to get a gun, let alone to have one customized after purchase. I don't know the customized 1911 market, but would guess you might have to wait a long while for the right guy to pay what you...

Decent price at a big box store?

Swinging deal for the Glock 19. I am not a Glock lover (Hi Power guy myself) but I would spring for that.

Do you settle when buying a gun?

I almost always buy used guns, so yes, I guess I "settle"! I typically buy what I think are exceptional values. I don't typically go shop for a particular model. So I settled for them because I wasn't willing to buy the same model from the new cabinet. Doesn't mean they aren't nice!

Rifle or Caliber Collector or Both?

I buy the prettiest rifle I see, regardless of caliber. Okay, I lied a little. I buy the best rifle for the dollar I can, just so happens a few of the centerfires are pretty. I have .257 Roberts, 7.5 Swiss, 30-30, and .30-06. I have a herd of .22s - Stevens, Savage, Marlin, Romanian; bolt and...

To shoot or not too shoot?

I have my father in law's A5 (12 gauge). It's beautiful to me (even though it's not perfect -- surface rust). I know it had been fired, so not a lot of worries about preserving the integrity. I shoot it when I want and clean it. My 2 cents about your "new" A5: if you choose to shoot it, then...

Is this bad behavior in a gun shop

I wouldn't mind the guy saying, "Sorry, I priced them that way on purpose." or somesuch. It's another thing altogether for the guy to instruct me not to haggle in his store -- I would be gone, and I would take ALL my business and friends with me. After he corrected me, I would have requested a...

    Interview or Imagination?

P2L, I like the fact you pulled the nozzle for effect. I am from Texas, so know what friendly really is. In SC, I bet you do too. But, if it feels weird, then break it off... I am glad the day finished well. Too bad about the follow on.
