    calibration No matter what brand you use, double check the jaws of the caliper for parallelism. If the jaws are not parallel your measurement won't be accurate.

    re gunsmithing If you already have a machining background you have half the battle won.. like machining, gunsmithing is a learned craft.. I would enroll yourself in some gunsmithing classes offered by for instance Cylinder and Slide ect...Get knowlege from someone to show you the correct way...

    re marine corp load For some reason, my pistol didn't like that load as well as the others, I actually was surprised that the accuracy wasn't there.. Maybe I need to do some more testing. :) Overall the Swc in both the Oregon Trail and Hornady were really sweet shooters.

    Hmm. maybe the precision fit between the slide and frame on some pistols negates the need for this gap..?

    The gap between the dust cover and the slide is so the two don't drag on each other causing a noticable wear mark on the slide.:)
