Hi Guys,

I thought I would post some data I used for 3 different loads of 310VV. I couldn't find any data for the 185 TMJ-SWC Hornady(VV reloading manual only lists a Speer 185 TMJ-SWC) so I did some reading in Richard Lee's book on Pressures and came up with one based on the difference in OAL legnth of the Speer bullet VS the Hornady bullet and the two bullets oal length and shoulder to base dimensions.. taking in to account case volume.

I didn't chronograph any of these loads. I will need to do that. Of the three loads I worked up the Hornady 185 TMJ-SWC and the Oregon Trail 200g lead SWC were the best performers out of my Kart 5" barrel followed by the the Marine load with the 185 Nosler JHP. Overall a pretty good day at the range. BTW ...310VV smells like burnt Almonds or nuts of some sort when shooting.

Let me know if I'm really wacked on the loads as I don't have a chrono and don't know how to figure potential velocity of loads.

185g Nosler JHP(marine load)
310VV 4.2 g
1.201 OAL
Starline Brass
WLP
Lee Crimp

185g TMJ-SWC Hornady
3.5 and 3.9 g of 310VV (two different loads)
1.169 OAL
Starline Brass
WLP
Lee Crimp

200g Oregon Trail Lead SWC
3.7 310VV
WLP
1.235 OAL
Starline Brass
Lee Crimp

Loads look about right.
The Marine Corp load, as I was told is 4.3gr of VV-N310 under the 185gr HP. Some said a Nosler, others a Hornady. I guess it's just what the particular gun prefered.

re marine corp load

For some reason, my pistol didn't like that load as well as the others, I actually was surprised that the accuracy wasn't there.. Maybe I need to do some more testing. :) Overall the Swc in both the Oregon Trail and Hornady were really sweet shooters.
