    Single-Shot 22 Rifle

El Paso isn't too small. 750,000 people. Give or take. And that is just on this side of the border, there are about a million on the other side. There are about 4 gun stores, none of which have many (maybe a handful between them) used long rifles. Pistols, maybe more. I have called and...

    Single-Shot 22 Rifle

I will pick up the Savage Mark I-G single shot 22 tomorrow afternoon. It was ordered yesterday from the only store in town that had one available. I appreciate the suggestions. That rifle is what I was wanting, and I am looking forward to taking it out for a test run tomorrow. Almost...

    Single-Shot 22 Rifle

Perhaps I am using the wrong terminology. I am going to purchase, and want, a bolt action rifle that is only capable of taking one round at a time. No tubular fed or magazine fed capabilities. A manual action as I understand it means that you have to manually remove the empty shell from the...

    Single-Shot 22 Rifle

Not here. I would have to either drive to NM (not sure about legality of buying a firearm in NM with intent on bringing it back to TX, which is my state of residence), or drive no less than 5 or 6 hours in Texas one way to maybe find a store that had any used 22lr rifles for sale. None of the...

    Single-Shot 22 Rifle

I had a chance to shoulder a Savage Mark I GY, youth model, today. It is only an inch or so shorter length of pull, and a few inches over all shorter. The wooden stock gave me some reservations until I actually held it. Not a fancy or expensive stock, but well made. It was used though, and...

    cartridge for non-reloader

I am looking for another hunting rifle cartridge. Something that is readily available, will shoot flat to 300 meters, and take game from varmint to whitetail deer. Some cartridges seem to have a lot of potential, if you reload them yourself. What I am looking for is something that comes in...

    ordering from catalog

I will be picking up a new .22 rifle in about a week. There are a couple stores around that will order the rifle I want. Although, they do require at least 1/2 up front. The rest on delivery. This means that I am committing myself to the purchase of a firearm unseen and unhandled. I...

    Single-Shot 22 Rifle

I agree about Marlin. Actually, their customer service has won me over in the past 2 weeks, but that's another story. The 915 would be perfect, if they would make a full sized model. Seems that the only one you can get is the youth, and its only 33 and a bit inches long. A bit short for my...

    Single-Shot 22 Rifle

I went by the local shops today. Lots of 10/22's, and not much else. One guy said he would order the Savage Mark I-G, or the Mark 1-FVT...for retail prices. Walmart on the other hand, has the Mark 1-G in their catalog for 180, which doesn't seem like a bad price, but I could get other 22's...

    Single-Shot 22 Rifle

Walter Oakley: That gun looks very familar :) I have shot one like that quite a bit. Agree 100% about the small number of moving parts being an attribute. After looking up dealer locations on the Savage website, I have come to the realization that there are none in my area. For a town...

    Single-Shot 22 Rifle

Nothing wrong with a used rifle. I own two. Remington 870 and Stevens Model 94 (I think, barrel stamped 62) But for the price of a Remington 41 I could spend about 40 or 50 more dollars and have a brand new Savage. Unfortunately I live in the land of NO pawn shops. I mean none. If you want...

    Single-Shot 22 Rifle

Does that 1 round magazine adapter for the CZ 452 work with any of their other rimfire models?

    Single-Shot 22 Rifle

dispatch55126: Well said. A quick reason I'd like to own a single shot. First off, my granddad kept a rifle similar to the Savage Mark 1g over his bed, but it was actually a Stevens. I put many boxes of ammo through that weapon and enjoyed it simplicity. Killed birds and squirrels well too...

    Single-Shot 22 Rifle

I would like a single shot rifle. If it proves too difficult/expensive to make that happen, I would like a manual action 22LR. My preference otherwise would be a tube magazine like the 39 and my 336. The 39A looks like a great gun. Not having fired one, I am curious about the accuracy...

    Single-Shot 22 Rifle

Thanks for the info. I have taken a look at the offerings so far. The Savage is quite appealing, and isn't too short. Right under 40". And the price is reasonable. Otherwise I think the CZ would be the best choice. No need for a semi-auto 22 right now.

Which manufacturers currently produces an adult sized single shot 22 rifle. I have seen many youth models, but they are too small.

    336 sling question

I have a Marlin 336W with the factory sling stud/swivel/sling installed. What I want to do is remove this and replace it with a 'Super Sling.' The problem is that I cannot get the front stud to move. Marlin says that it will just unscrew. I can't get it to move using my hands, and thought...

    single shot options

I have a co-worker who is looking to purchase a new single shot shotgun. What options are out there. After looking around, I can't find too many makers out there offering single shots. He is looking for a fairly inexpensive, under 300. thanks

    Nylon m1907 sling

I found a M1907 style sling at a local gun shop. Its made by Outdoor connections and is the Super Sling 2+. Seems to be a nylon webbing sling in the style of a M1907, does anyone have experience with this sling? I was thinking about getting one and putting in on my Marlin 336. Thanks
