    I miss Cooper

Cooper was "salty?" If I remember anything about the good Colonel, he never expressed himself in what he termed "toilet language."

cz 75 vs Beretta 92 vs baby eagle

Charles Daly got the "Baby" Eagle from Magnum Research. Now it's back to being called the 941 Jericho. MSRP is $674 for the full-sized. And, they're available in .45 ACP. Can't beat that with a stick.

Coonan Arms. .357 Mag Pistol may be coming back

Meh... 9x23 doesn't seem right. It's steppin' on my babies, the .38 Super and the .357 SIG. 'sides, the .357 SIG is meant for 9mm sized guns, which means the near P232-sized P239 is a very appealing .357 SIG. A steel Kahr P40 rebarrelled to .357 SIG works too. As for necked-down SIG...

    Revolvers in pop culture

Are you talking about Die Hard 3? It looked like a .38, just an old one. And he didn't hit the chopper. He realized that after three shots, he wasn't affecting the choppah, so he shot the transformer the pilot was flying near, and the sparks from that thing knocked out the aircraft.

Coonan Arms. .357 Mag Pistol may be coming back

1911 pattern + .357 Magnum = dream gun. 'Nuff said. I was hyped about the Coonan back in the 80's. There was also the sadly discontinued LAR Grizzly that did .357 Magnum, .45 Winchester Magnum, 10mm, and .44 Magnum among others.

    sig sauer still good gun?

Look past the P238, and get a GOOD SIG .380 - the P232. It fixed the fragile grip problems of the P230. Trigger may be a little long, but it's flat and sweet.

    Battle of the 9mm's.

Taurus PT92. Best design (the Beretta 92 family) with good safety/decocker placement.

US Military and the Beretta M9

Pistols are also primarily a "badge of office." Grenades, machine guns, artillery and rifles are meant for "knocking down" enemy soldiers.

Why carry a 1911 in Condition 1 over Condition 2?

David, I've never said anything like that. I've also never done a house sweep with a 1911 - mainly because I prefer revolvers as my "bump in the night" gun. Condition 2 uses the same safe decocking methods as revolvers, DA autos without decockers, lever action rifles, and other things...

    New Kel-Tec PMR-30 auto pistol

Considerin' it's not a defensive handgun, and George Kelgren tends to fix what ain't right on his products, no charge, maybe you can put your snark back in your posing pouch and let the grown-ups talk, kiddo.

Why carry a 1911 in Condition 1 over Condition 2?

If it's in a holster, being carried, it's NOT pointed at someone.

Why carry a 1911 in Condition 1 over Condition 2?

Great post, tipoc. As has been mentioned, fanny pack carry is not usually a place where Condition 1 is worthwhile - they're the definition of soft holster.

    Three Commander Sized 1911 Choices

As a southpaw, all but the CBOB from Dan Wesson is a top choice. Dan Wesson might be awesome, but I've only seen two options in their catalog that's just for me. (10mm Hunter... shudder and drool) The XSE is neat, but I like the Champion and the Pro Raptor. Honestly, I'd go with the Pro...

Why carry a 1911 in Condition 1 over Condition 2?

Christcorp - I agree with you on Condition 2 being an option for southpaws who want to use their 1911's BOX STOCK. And yes, there are quite a few 1911's that are inexpensive and have southpaw friendly levers - I LOVE them, especially the Charles Daley ECS or whatever its name is. However, if...
