    What was your first gun?

Handgun, rifle, shotgun. For me, it was Glock 19, M1 Garand, and Rem 870 HD. :)

    What's a good bullet for the .38/.357 Marlin 1894c?

I'm thinking of either the 158gr or the 125gr. CMJ from Montana Gold (flat- nosed). This would be for basic general range plinking. Thanks!

Marlin's got top notch customer service.

Yes, Marlin's famed customer service comes through once again. Kudos to them. They're a top notch firearms company, without a doubt. I recently purchased a Marlin 39a from a fellow THR member, and the rifle seemed to have been damaged in transit. I didn't notice it at first, but when I got...

    Buckmark front sight question.

Just bought the NRA Buckark with the fiber optic front sight. Does anyone know what part(s) I need to replace the front sight with a plain iron post? A Brownells part number(s) would be nice. Thanks!

Advantage Arms .22 Conversion Kits, how accurate?

I read on their website that AACK owners typically get 2" groups at 25 yds. Is this an accurate description of the kit's potential? I'm looking to top off my G17 with a .22 conversion kit. Ammo's just too expensive these days....:( I have a CZ Kadet kit that's scary accurate, and I'm...

How wide a rear notch for an HD gun?

After installing the Heinie Slant Pro Straight Eight's on my XD45 Tactical, I realized that there just wasn't enough daylight around the front sight. It was actually a very claustrophobic sight picture (I looked like this :scrutiny: when shooting the gun). I dremelled and filed away, til now...

    can't...stop...aiming...AARRRGG!!

Went trap and skeet shooting for the first time with Beetle Bailey and Black Majik Saturday. We won't mention the skeet round (:o ), but at the trap range, they were shooting twenty-somethings outta twenty-five, while I toiled to a 16/25. Can't stop focusing on my front sight, can't stop...

    Firefly Complete Series DVD's $18.99 @ Target.

I think I paid around $40 for my set. :scrutiny: Can't think of a better stocking stuffer. ;) Merry X-mas, everyone. :)

Bye-Bye, San Gabriel Valley Gun Club....

http://www.sgvtribune.com/search/ci_4371862 This is the club we SoCal THR members have been frequenting for our monthly shoots (www.sangabrielvalleygunclub.com). Beetle Bailey and I have been weekly regulars there for a few years now--we're on a first name basis with the RO's, other range...

How bad would it be to fire a FAL with a short gas tube and Izzy handguards?

I'd ask this question on Falfiles.com, but for some reason, the moderators there wont activate my account. I'm registered, but I can't post. I've emailed them about it three times w/o response. Anyways, I put Israeli handguards on my FAL, but it does not have a full length gas tube...

Glock 17's pelting me in the head with brass!

My new baby poo Glock 17 is a sweet shooting pistol (Triggerkit.com trigger, Dawson FO FS, Heinie rear, THE mag catch), but it keeps ejecting brass straight back at my forehead (and Kevlarman's head, too!). My G19 doesn't do this, nor do any of my other pistols (well, the C96 kinda....)...

My Ebay listing just got pulled, and my account got suspended.

I listed my M1a scope mount for sale, and they pulled the ad, suspended my account, then retracted the suspension and gave me a "formal warning" instead. All because they think my scope mount violates their policy against selling firearms. It's a SCOPE MOUNT, for crying out loud!! :fire...

Bad news: CA DOJ's latest on off-list lowers.

It was always my understanding that the DOJ enforces the law--it does not write it. Guess not. :cuss: Here's the link to their current stance on the influx of thousands of off-list AR lowers into the state: http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/ar15notice.pdf This has to go to court...

Beretta Elite II vs. Sig 226 ST

Finally get to do my own vs. thread. Cool. Okay, I've got the Sig 226 ST, and it's a tight, accurate pistol. Don't like the night sights (I prefer plain black Novaks, myself), but that's just nitpicking. DA pull is a bit heavy, SA is just right. Breaks nice and crisp. High bore axis...

Child molester moving into our neighborhood.

My wife just informed me that one of our neighbors, who's renting his home, is being evicted by the owners so that their son, a convicted child molester, can move into the house. This is the next block over, but that's still too close for comfort. I've got an 8 month old son, and our whole...

    BamBam-31's Makarov

Well, I finally got the Mak back from Azuza PD. First time I've seen the pistol since the accident. When I took the slide off, I found that the firing pin was stuck forward, and I mean STUCK. I kept trying to push it back in, first with a toothpick, then with a dental pick, but no dice. It...

Russian Mak went full auto, shot my hand.

Last weekend, I put five rounds through my new (to me) Walther P1 (which shot very accurately, BTW), then loaded up five rounds in my Russian Mak's mag. As soon as I slapped in the mag (pistol's slide was locked back), the slide slammed forward by itself and fired off all five rounds full auto...

    Witnessed an almost gangbang hit.

One of my tenants called to let me know that the pilot on their water heater had blown out, so I was off to the Barrio at around 9:00pm at night. After re-lighting the pilot, I started driving home. An older white SUV (Ford/Chevy, couldn't tell) makes a very dangerous and abrupt U-turn and...

    Help--Bulgie Makarov double feeding.

My buddy traded me this Mak for some reloading equipment, and I'm pretty pleased with it's accuracy. It's had it's problems, however. First, the slide lock was kinda not squared up. It'd release by itself when I slammed in a fresh mag. I stoned the edge of it a bit, and it works like a...

Shot my Dad's gun the other day.

A little Colt Diamondback .38 Special. He purchased it some time in the early '80's for home defense, so I'm guessing it's a '70's production gun (R393XX). Pretty accurate little pistol for such a short barrel (2 1/2"?). DA trigger is a bit heavy, but SA trigger is nice and crisp. It feels a...
