Hey I just bought a Smith & Wesson 1911PD 4inch barrel yesterday and went and shot 80 flawless rounds today. Can people provide me their experiences with this particular gun. I am looking to make this my CCW and am hoping this turns into a very reliable gun like my Springfield 1911 GI-45.
Guys,
I have a Concealed Weapons Permit but I was wondering what level is a good level of proficiency shooting wise, so that I am not a danger to others but would be reasonably assured of hitting the bad guy in a defense situation?
I purchased a Kimber Pro Carry II approximately 2 weeks ago and have shot 250 rounds through it and have a failure to feed rate of 25%. I am sending it back to Kimber to see if the problems can be fixed. But the problems are slide does close all the way after a shot, bullet sometimes stuck...
Thanks guys for your help I did the alternative method of disassembly and I would never do that again. Getting that little tool in the rod is hard as HELL!!!!!!! But all of your suggestions helped me understand what to do and now it is cleaned and ready to fire!!!!
Thanks
I am field striping my Kimber Pro I have the slide off but I can for the life of me figure out how to use the take down tool to help releave tension on the recoil spring so I can remove the darn guide rod. I see the hole in the guide rod but I just don't understand how the take down tool...
So is there a description on how to take a 1911 apart and put it back together. My kimber and springfield manuals show me how to field strip but not how to take the gun apart as you all describe and put it back together and what kind of tools would I need.
I just got into shooting a month ago and love it. I have two 1911's a Springfield 1911-A GI 45 and a Kimber Pro Carry II. I clean my guns after every shoot taking off the slide and cleaning the barrel and the like. Is there any other maintenace I should do and if so what is it and how often...
Well I keep letting the slide snap and now it at least isn't doing it when I point it up and down. So heck if I know I will update when I go shooting at the range later this week. You guys are great though and I appreciate your help. I will keep shooting and give it a proper break-in period.
I am using Winchester 230 GR FMJ from Walmart I also use it in my Springfield 1911 GI 45. So I should just keep shooting and it should resolve itself in 200 - 500 rounds then?
About 60 rounds fired....The round is chambered and slide partially covers the round so when i lightly push the slide forward it completes and I can then fire the gun.....Since I think I only used full mags not sure if it wouldn't happen otherwise. This problem happend probably 5 out of 7 times.
Just bought a Kimber Pro Carry II and have an issue with the slide closing fully once the magazine is loaded. The slide will close sometimes fully and sometimes part way, I will then push it close. Has anyone had this problem and any suggestions on what I should do?
Thanks
