    AR15 slam fire

@Sinbad my hammer doesn't have that corner cut out like in that picture. My bolt doesn't have the same cutout either. So that's probably why it was happening to me. @243 yes I don't like to link directly to other forums and don't know if moderators here approve of it.

    AR15 slam fire

Oh I found a good image on this topic. I looked at my bolt I don't see anything that would prevent the hammer from riding the bolt if the disconnect and trigger sear was gone but the question is how do you get the first shot off without it LOL. Or get the gun to stop firing?

    AR15 slam fire

I see what your saying. I will take a look at mine and see what it looks like. I think it's made that if the sears don't catch it follows the bolt but I am not sure. I will look and let ya know what I find.

    My First ATI Mosin-Nagant Sporter

Sweet! Thanks Lags! I did notice the base of the mount was grooved and it seemed weird to me. I would think a solid piece would be better. I can't wait to run it through its paces!

    My First ATI Mosin-Nagant Sporter

Yep I did free float the barrel channel already. I am going to glass bed the stock too. I never heard of glass bedding the scope mount! Great idea! The next one I do I will probably do a longer turned bolt handle and use my dads shop and welder to build that. This one I did with hand tools on my...

    My First ATI Mosin-Nagant Sporter

I finally put the time, effort, and $ into my old Mosin sporter project I started about 3 years ago.. It turned out really well so far. I originally purchased this gun and had plans to just play with it for fun and maybe it would be a good backup medium/larger game gun for me if it shot ok...

    AR15 slam fire

RC no disrespect but I do not agree at all with your statement I know that this can and will happen. if the disconnect is not correct. It may be a hammer spring tougher than it needs to be or it may be that the disconnect is slightly holding the hammer till trigger release but it's something...

    300 Blk Deer

It did a pretty good amount of damage. She hit him on the left shoulder at a slight quartering to her angle a bit high. It passed through and kept going. I was hoping to recover a bullet this year but no dice. The round broke 3 ribs in and 3 out. She hit him again mid spine so he dropped within...

    300 Blk Deer

Ha! I like the long pause between the the report and the ping back :-). I am happy with the performance of the loads I have been running. They seem to work great for the intended purpose. I may end up building a subsonic upper in the future here. To many guns and not enough time or money UG!

    AR15 slam fire

I had this happening with my disconnect. If I pulled the trigger and held it bottomed out then the disconnect would work fine. If I pulled the trigger really really slow and careful like I was shooting for accuracy I could hold the trigger half way and the disconnect wouldn't catch. I had it...

Anyone Want to School a Newb on 300Blk?

Oh I forgot to mention its a carbine length gas system from Red X Arms. Cycles everything I run in my gun so far which is mostly 110 Sierra and 125 Nosler and Hornady. I literally looked last night to maybe pick up another one and I saw they are making their 16" in 1-7 twist now. Dang it I...

Anyone Want to School a Newb on 300Blk?

Sounds like you have the same thing I have. I am a Mn boy no suppressors allowed here either. So I opted for a 1-10 twist 16" barrel. I run 125 SSTs right at or a shade over 2200 FPS and I use this rifle for deer out to 250ish. I wanted to get a fast handling autoloader for deer at moderate...

Deer Rifle for a 11-12 year old

Have you considered the Handi in 300 BLK? I used an AR in that clambering this year I wouldn't hesitate to reach out to 250 with it after seeing the damage it makes on the 2 deer I saw taken with it. It's becoming a very popular round and over the shelf ammo is more and more available. Think of...

Good factory 7.62x39 load for deer for my son

Federal makes a 123 gr fusion bullet that they load as a factory cartridge. They also have a non bonded bullet that is also 123 gr soft point. I have personally seen deer taken with the soft point and I have used fusion cartridges in other calibers. If federal says its good for deer your ok with...

Would you take a shot at dusk?

I shoot deer all the time at dusk. Both with rifle and archery. If its legal hours go for it. If you doubt the shot or your ability to make a clean kill don't do it. As far as gutting them out in the dark. Get one of these...
