‘MOGADISHU' PROFESSOR CUTS CLASS

By JENNIFER FERMINO and TODD VENEZIA
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

April 2, 2003 -- Nearly a week after Columbia University professor Nicholas De Genova called for the mass slaughter of U.S. troops, the man who wants "a million Mogadishus" fears so much for his own life he is refusing to go to class.
De Genova claimed death threats forced him to skip his 2:40 p.m. Latino History course at the university's Hamilton Hall - the first lecture he had scheduled since the March 26 anti-war "teach in" in which he referred to the 1993 "Black Hawk Down" incident in which 18 GIs were slain.

Instead of the professor, some 25 students were greeted by three graduate students, who said class was canceled and the professor was in hiding.

"Because Nick is afraid for his life, nobody knows where he is," said one, who refused to identify herself.

The woman then invited the undergrads to protest at the library.

Almost two dozen De Genova supporters gathered at 4 p.m. by a statue outside the Ivy League school's library. The protesters sat silently near an empty chair meant to symbolize the absence of the professor.

One who did not show up was Rebekah Pazmino, who attended the 2:40 p.m. class De Genova missed.

The 19-year-old sophomore said she is set to enter the Marines this summer.

She said she is angry at what her professor said.

Where is lightning when one really needs it?

We heard something similar from Daschle when he was bashing talk radio, didn't we?

Words and actions have consequences. What the Left does impinges on all of our futures. I guess Prof. De Genova is learning that--if he, in fact, isn't just using his newfound notoriety for more propaganda.

Of course, he and his brethren in spirit have staked out an inalienable right to victimhood, no matter what.

ALL actions have consequences. Guess he didn’t bother to think before opening his pie hole.

Maybe he will next time.

Too bad, so sad.

He will talk behind the protection of the people he despises, but when he has to talk without that protection, he runs and hides because he is a coward.

I wish him nothing but the best.

I just hope some of the posters in this thread aren't taking the side of those who would threaten the life of this man for what he said. It looks that way.

We don't kill people for saying stupid things in this country. We don't even kill people for saying evil things. If you want to try him for treason, arrest him and take him to the courts. Assassins have no place among us, even if they assassinate cowards and fools.

Openly wishing for someone's death and threatening to kill them are subtly different, yet distinct positions.

I don't wish that maggot death, I want him to suffer as a gutless coward for another 50+ years.
Having to live with himself is a far worse fate than I could ever perpetrate upon him and I am very creative in perpetrating fate upon people. :D

Just to be clear, i didn't say I wished for his death, just that the fact that I wouldn't lose a nights sleep over it if he got hit by a bus and calling for him to be shot are not the same thing.

Tit for Tat,

If he loudly wishes for our troop's death, can he really whine when others wish the same upon him? What a cowardly turd.

Don, I get a slightly different impression when I read these posts. I simply see a group of people expressing their disgust that this person would run and hide in fear of violence, after advocating violence perpetrated on others himself. Can he be surprised that others wish for his death when he wishes aloud for the death of millions of others? He’s hiding because others wish him harm. Are the Rangers hiding because he wished them harm? :)D)

You are right. Threatening someone with physical harm because of their stated beliefs is generally wrong. However, expressing disgust with his actions is not inappropriate in the least.

Now, weather his words should be considered to be protected as ‘free speech’, given that he was speaking at a ‘teach in’ and thus in an official capacity rather than as a private citizen, is a whole other topic.

Lightning can be set on stun, just ask my dad. :D

We aren't wishing him death. In case you forgot, he was the one wishing death on our troops. By a factor of a million times Mogadishu. That's 18 million of our soldiers in case you haven't done the math.

Since he felt like he had balls enough to say such a thing in a place that was filled by maggots like himself, then don't you think he should be expected to stand by those words in the stark light of day??? Or should he ask an American to protect his life?

As for the lightning-bait maggots, why do they sit silent? Are they afraid that if they open their yap, that someone might shut it for them? Wishing death on those that protect our lives are fighting words. At least they are in a few jurisdictions in what is left of our country. Maybe if folks understood that, or better yet, had it demonstrated to them a few times, we would all live in a much more civilized society. If they said it in front of me, I would be happy to take my chances before a judge and jury.

Instead, we live in a society where rap artists - like the one you said you admire, Marshall Mathers, aka Eminem - rap about killing their mothers, beating their girlfriends to death, and killing their contemporaries because they were disrespected.

The only good news is that someday, some equally vile "artist" will be upset by something that Marshall has to say, and will kill him for it. One more useless POS piled into the rap meatwagon.

Marshall will have brought that upon himself. He chose to ape a loser sub-culture. Emulate killer losers, die as a killer loser.

Words, and their meanings, and the intent of the speaker, MATTER!!!!!

The De Genova maggot had a choice. He made it. He gets to live with the consequences. It looks as though he never thought about that ahead of time. And so he slithers back under his rock. Well duh!

:cuss: HIM!

It's a complete waste of breath to "Talk the Talk" if you're lacking the C.O. Jones to "Walk the Walk". A brave man dies but once, a coward dies many deaths. I wish no evil upon this cretin but I wouldn't cross the street to spit on him if he was on fire either.

What a pusillanimous posterior of a Percheron.

He had alot to say, He had alot of nothing to say.
We'll miss him.

So long, We wish you well.
You told us how you weren't afraid to die.
Well then, so long.
Don't cry, Or feel too down.
Not all martyrs see divinity.
But at least you tried.

Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud.
We'll miss him.
Ranting and pointing his finger
At everything but his heart.
We'll miss him.

No way to recall
What it was that you had said to me,
Like I care at all.

So loud, You sure could yell.
You took a stand on every little thing
And so loud.

Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice so strong and loud and I
Swallowed his facade cuz I'm so
Eager to identify with
Someone above the ground,
Someone who seemed to feel the same,
Someone prepared to lead the way, with
Someone who would die for me.

Will you? Will you now?
Would you die for me?
Don't you lie.
Don't you step out of line.
Don't you lie.

You've claimed all this time that you would die for me.
Why then are you so surprised to hear your own eulogy?

You had alot to say.
You had alot of nothing to say.

Come down, Get off your cross.
We need the space to nail the next fool martyr.
To ascend you must die.
You must be crucified
For your sins and your lies.
Goodbye...

TOOL - eulogy

Hmmm...Don makes a good point, but I think I agree far more with tommy's point.

Openly wishing for someone's death and threatening to kill them are subtly different, yet distinct positions.

Ditto.

Heh. Am I the only one who is intrigued as to the source of this fear of his?

I'm sure none here and no one at GT are responsible for any of that sentiment. :D

I'd really love the names and emails for his "supporters."

I'd help put fear in their pathetic hides, the likes of which they have never seen nor imagined possible.

The "professor" and his supporters all deserve the fate he wishes upon our men.

Hell hath no fury like an enraged American.

By the by, I think it's time for another email to this "prof" and his superior....

Whadda y'all think???

:D

Killing or threatening to kill somebody because of their beliefs or voiced opinions, no matter how horrid... is wrong.

That said, this dweeb has simply (once again) proved that those among us who voice loudest and most viciously against America and it's troops are most often the biggest cowards of all.

Run and hide, loser. Somebody with a pair and likely a sworn oath will protect you from physical harm. But you WILL reap the results of your actions, hopefully by losing your job, and losing all respect and credibility you ever might have tricked people into giving you. The First Amendment is a two way street, and the big *** tank of American opinion is comin' right down the road for ya!

We're not using THR for death wishes. This is not the High Road.

I'd help put fear in their pathetic hides, the likes of which they have never seen nor imagined possible. The "professor" and his supporters all deserve the fate he wishes upon our men.
