10 rnd mags for Ruger Deerfield .44 mag

I think a 10-shot semi .44 would be the cat's meow, but the rotary mag design of the Deerfield would make it tough. The rimmed cartridge wouldn't help either. Probably could be engineered, but the limited #'s of the gun out there would dissuade an aftermarket manufactuer, and Ruger has made it pretty clear they'll have no part in increasing the capacity of magazines. Too bad, tho.

True, and I agree it could be done. But, it still ain't likely to happen - low demand and an uncooperative Ruger will see to that. Might also exceed the mag limits for hunting purposes, and that's prob what most folks buy Deerfields for and the only purpose Ruger would ever admit to making them for. A 10 rd semi .44 would indeed be an awesome little beast, tho.

Hmmm, how bout if someone machined and aluminum adapter that would lock into the rotary mag well. It could incorperate a pistol style mag release of it`s own and take 7rd. Desert Eagle mags. Basically picture a Marlin Camp Carbine in .44mag. Any clever gunsmith/machinists out there listening? ;) Marcus

10/22's have hi-caps and they use rotary mags.....

Actually, the hi-cap mags for the 10-22's are straight-line magazines. the tops have been moulded to fit where the rotary mag would be. Kinda like the hi-cap Makarov magazines in reverse...:scrutiny:

I'm still waiting for Ruger to bring the 96 & Deerfield out in .357Mag. Esp. if they can use 6-rd. mags....

I hear this idea thrown around every so often, but the response is always very similar to the ones above. I thought I heard someone over on another board say that he was actually designing some magazines but I have forgotten where this was discussed and if he was successful or not. I think it would be a really cool accessory for the Deerfield, but ultimately I cannot see it selling well. On a side note, I would love to see someone make a semi-auto .357 mag rifle with a detachable magazine with a good capacity to it.

If they make a .357 Deerfield, I will buy it.

If they make 10 round mags for a .44 Deefield, I will then go out and buy a Deerfield and a half dozen mags!

Come on Ruger...do us the favor!

Seems like a good opportunity for Hi-Point or one of the other pistol caliber carbine makers.

I might be tempted to purchase a ten round mag as it is legal to hunt with here in Missouri but I would be more interested in getting a square butted stock for my Deerfield so I could put a recoil pad on it. As the gun requires a fairly stiff load to cycle it can make an old man’s shoulder a mite tender after a session at the range. ;) At present I use a shoulder pad but the stock pad would be nice.

A folding stock and a 10 round mag and it would make a nice back-country survival rifle.

Hate to respond to a revived seven year old thread but what do you need ten rounds for that you can't do with less?
