I just bought a brand new Colt Delta Elite in 10mm and I have a 8lb jug of 231 since it works for my 9, 45, and 38 super. I am open to trying new powders and I was wondering what other people have used successfully with this gun. Also I know for my 6.8 AR SSA brass lasts longer then hornady brass so I wanted some info on which brass to look for or stay away from.

What's a good target load and SD load, any help is much appreciated.

I like Accurate #7 and #9 for my hotter 10mm loads. W231 works OK for light target loads in my Glock 20s.

The Lyman manual has a lot of good recipes.

I have only tried five or six powders for 10mm so far, and have a few to go.
For range loads, Unique and HS6 work pretty well.
For full power loads, Blue Dot and 800X (and maybe 296) look promising.

I reload thousands of 10mm loads a year...been doing it since the early 90s. If you are looking for a little power, my favorites are Power Pistol, Longshot, and Blue Dot, in that order.

AA #7 and Silhouette with lead or jacketed bullets from light loads to heavy loads.

For SD, Hunting and full power loads it's tough to beat LongShot.

For years I loaded AA7, Blue Dot and 800x in the 10mm. I would not go light like 231 powder since I have 40's for that. Lately I have dropped AA7 as I find Blue Dot and 800x work better.

Congratulations on your new Delta Elite! I bought one of the first ones to hit my area and love this pistol and the 10 mm round in general. I have found that 231 or Bullseye works best with cast bullet loads, and Blue Dot with jacketed bullets. I tried both AA 5 and 7 but had better accuracy and velocity with the Blue Dot. AA 9 was not out in the mid 80's when I bought my pistol so I have never tried it and have no reason to at this point. I have found the hard cast Oregon Trail's "Laser Cast" bullets to work excellently in my DE and best of all no leading. :)

Well my 10 is one of the IAI Javelina's. It has always been a bit more to load for witht eh added 2" of barrel. for the most part I settled on the Accurate line of powders as it made it quite simple. I use the #5 for the 135 - 150gr loads, the #7 for 165 - 175gr loads and the #9 for 180gr and up. My go to load after shooting this for close to 20 years has been 13grs of #9 under the 180gr Gold Dot. This load clocks 1350fps and does all I need it to do.

I have had great results with most any bulk jacketed, with the Winchester 180's being right there in accuracy with the Gold Dots.
