Saw an unusual S&W N frame in the used counter. It's a blued N frame single shot 12 gauge. It didn't have any non smith markings, has anyone seen one of these before or have any idea on a value? They want $550 for it, its seems like kind of a useless oddity but kind of cool at the same time.

I call Shenanigans on that right there.

There is no possible way a 12 ga shell could be made to fit or fire in an N-Frame, or any other S&W.

The frame & cylinder is at least an inch too short for a 12 ga shell to even fit in one behind the barrel.
Not even getting into there being nothing left but air if you bored a cylinder out that far.

And most certainly S&W never ever made such a gun.

I have no idea what you saw mis-labeled at the gun shop, but it could not have possibly been a S&W revolver of any kind

I have seen the Mercox animal capture dart gun and a tear gas gun built as single shots on much modified S&W revolver frames but never a 12 gauge. A shot pistol would be an NFA item subject to federal registration and tax.

I bet you are right.
I'd forgot about that one.

But still, a 37mm flare is not a 12 ga. by a long shot

I was going to ask a similar question, but figured it was a 37mm flare gun that had been mis-labled. There's an N-frame, single shot/break action at the local Scheels that is labeled "12 gauge". It hasn't sold in months now and I think it's $499 after having been reduced a couple times.

The weird thing about the one I saw is the handle on the tube/barrel.

^We were looking at the same one then. I have not handled it, but am curious to see what ammunition it actually takes.

$550 is a little too much for me to spend on something that is just a novelty, but it certainly looks interesting.
