Hello all,

Brand new here. Also new to reloading. I've been working with 147g molycoated lead RNFP. 9mm. I'm using 4.7 grains of power pistol. shoots very nice. I worked the load up to 4.9g. seems a little snappy but not bad.

problem is I picked up a cast bullet manual and it has the max for power pistol in 147g lead cast at 4.6g. so I'm .3g over max.

Anyone else have experience with power pistol and the 147g molycoated lead?

I've used Power Pistol with moly coated bullets in the 125gr variety. It worked just fine. No real problems. I have started experimenting with faster powders though in an effort to reduce smoke and lube fouling. Based on my experiance with Power Pistol going a little over max isnt a problem as long as you are not using a short OAL. However, if it were me, I might shoot up what I have and back off a little next time. Not much sense in hot rodding a cast 9mm load.

As a point of reference, I use 4.0 gr of PP with a 147 gr FMJ-TC bullet. This is just fast enough to always cycle my slide. My OAL is between 1.13 and 1.14.

Do you have a reason for such a heavy charge?

OAL is 1.12. I loaded about 20 at 4.9g, I have backed it down to 4.5g and finished out the box of 147g. As far as why I went that high, i'm not sure if I have a satisfactory answer. I had the meter set at 4.6 from a previous load and didn't check when I started loading again. So, 20 got loaded a little hot; anyway finished up at 4.5.

Moving on to 125g JHP.
