Budget .22 SAA Revolvers
The plastic grips and alloy cylinder give it a "cheap gun" look and feel, but as far as manufacturing quality goes, Chiappa has a pretty good reputation. The .22 SAA model is sold in the USA under the "Puma" or "Cimarron" brand names. For its intended purpose as a cheap .22 plinking pistol, it's certainly adequate. One drawback is it only comes in 4 3/4" barrel length, and I prefer something a bit longer for .22 Magnum use. If you go for the cheapest Cimarron .22LR model without the .22Mag cylinder, and want to upgrade later, the extra cylinder must be fitted an an authorized Chiappa Service Center; the .22 Mag cylinder is included with the EAA and Heritage .22s. With both cylinders included, prices seem comparable among the budget .22 single actions. The Chiappa-made Cimarron "Plinkerton" with both cylinders included lists at $185.14 from CTD, the EAA "Bounty Hunter" with both cylinders is $237.93, and the Heritage "Rough Rider" is $194.78 (six shot model).
Also, it's an import, where the Heritage .22 is USA manufactured, if that makes a difference. I got the Heritage Rough Rider with the 6 1/2" barrel for myself, and I'm happy with it so far.
