I noticed recently that conversion units are described as only fitting .45 caliber frames. I thought that 1911's were one sized. Are super .38 and 9mm full sized a different sized frame? I am looking at a kimber conversion unit on a 1911 other than .45.

same frame size, but i think the problem is with the ejector. i'll have to look when i get back in town to try my conversion kit's on my 9mm 1911's

I appreciate it. I shot with a guy this weekend that was using a Kimber conversion. It was accurate and functioned flawlessly.

I have the conversion unit but have never put it on anything but my 45's. I also have a Kimber 38 Super and have never tried it on the 38 but will give it a whirl this evening. I'm not sure the magazine will fit the 38 or not. That would be the question I have. I will try this combination and let you know.

The Kimber conversion unit is highly accurate as long as you find the right ammo for it. Mine seems to like CCI Mini Mags or Winchester High Velocity.

I've had my Marvel unit on .45 in both full size and commander, and 38 super full size.

Just looked for you, I have a Wilson/Marvel Unit 2 and a Wilson/Ciener conversion. the Marvel fits, but the Ciener will not make it past the ejector. The Marvel is designed to work with ramped barrel frames (which most 9mm 1911's are) and the Ciener is not. the Kimber kit is designed after the Ciener, so you might have problems with the fit. If you also have a magwell, the Kimber mag baseplates will hit the rear of the magwell.
FWIW, the Marvel Unit 1 is VERY accurate (<1" @ 50yrds) and comes with a test target showing the performance.

here's a pic of my Wilson/Marvel Unit2 on my Wilson frame and using a Kimber mag.
handheld @~15yards. started with Mini-Mags, then Golden Bullets, and finished with Thunderbolts.
