I'm pleased to advise I'm a proud owner of a brandy new Sig Sauer 1911 Tac-Ops .45ACP, Nitron finish with rail and night sights. It came with four factory magazines and treaded barrel.

The intent of this weapon is HD with the mounting of a Surefire x400. For fun will be IDPA, (Surefire Dismounted). Here is the deal. What is the going rate for a new match grade SS 5 inch barrel? I think the TB is permissable for the competition, but I'd rather use a standard barrel and save the threaded one for armageddon.

So any suggestions would be appreciated. I hope to shoot about 500 rounds a month (Factory).

Thanks In Advance,

Thek9

High quality replacement 1911 barrels seem to run in the $150-200 range based on what I saw browsing MidwayUSA yesterday.

Your original barrel will probably go at least 50,000 rounds, and probably more, before wearing out.

Z-Michigan,

Sig wants 199.00 shipped. So, I guess on this one they are not too over priced.
As soon as I can get one of my teenagers to help I'll post pictures.

Thanks for the input.

That doesn't sound unreasonable. Another consideration is that 1911 barrels typically require some degree of hand fitting. If you get another SIG barrel there's a good chance that no fitting will be needed, as they probably make them all on the same CNC equipment set to the same dimensions.

Hey, post a review when you get a chance. Looking forward to photos.

Did you get that price from their website or talk to someone directly? I don't see any 1911 match grade barrels on their website. They have barrels for the P series that are $199 and they offer a 1911 threaded barrel for $235 but it's not advertised as being match grade. They also offer a 1911 new barrel installation service for $240 but again, that's not necessarily match grade.

An Ed Brown or Wilson Combat match barrel will cost you $190 to $200. I just installed an Ed Brown in my Kimber.

1858,

On the telephono. I looked high and low on the web. I was advised to guarantee the fit ship the gun up and they would do the install. If it's a bad fit I'll send the barrel back with the weapon, then they can do the job. First, I shop around local and see if I get lucky.
