I just got a 250 for my chl with a S&W sc1911. The gun turned out to be great through the whole test no malfunctions and I was using 5 round mags for the test, 10 mags total.

Upon completion I purchased a Dan Wesson valor v-bob and it is a beautiful gun. Now where do I go from here? My preference is commander and bobtail cause I like the feel. Im thinking of a DW guardian. what other 1911's do yall have in mind.

9mm Bob Tail any brand. STI, is nice, have a gun smith install the bob tail. I built my bobbed tail on a STI Spartan IV

That's a tough one. I'd say you have the ideal piece for a commander carry bobtail.

If you are getting a sore hip, you could get an aluminum framed Colt Commander, and have the Ed Brown bobtail MSH installed. (That's what DW does). That would shave some weight off.

The Kimber bobtails aren't really bobtails (imo) they have a rounded corner, but that's about it.

buy a CT laser grip for your VBOB and a lot of ammo.

The VBOB is one of their best pistolas!... Not sure where to go from there but ENJOY it and shoot the hell-out-of-it!
Got a DW Classic-Bob (CBOB)... wanted the 3-dot Novak-style sights and the skeleton trigger...and its been a fantastic gun!
DW definitely makes some excellent pistolas!!

I wanted a C-BOB terribly... had a good chunk of change saved up and was actively shopping when CZ bought DW and immediately changed it to a V-BOB and raised the price on them 30%.

The few C-BOBs left on dealers shelves very quickly disappeared.

I found one in 10 mm but after doing some homework concluded that commander length 1911s were problematic in 10 mm.

Oh well.... I love my Colt Commander.... but the C-BOB was a great deal back when they could be had for $900

CBOBs are still being made by DW... but only for the California market.
Got mine last year from a CA net-dealer. If you're in CA, Turners just had a couple in their stores for about $1500.
BUDs will also occasionally have them, in that same $$ range.
And Yes, prices have gone up... bought my first CZ-75B for $315 back when no one knew what a CZ was!

I would get the dan wesson guardian unless you wanted to upgrade into the wilson/ed brown/guncrafter/nighthawk price range.

My Sig has been 100% with whatever I feed it, and seriously accurate as well.

I would recommend an Ed Brown carry, but since you "just got a 250 for your chi", you probably don't need one...

Metro arms has a nice Commander bob tail. I have a DW CBOB and the metro will rival the smooth as glass slide and trigger. For a lot less money. It will be my next 1911 . Since DW got full of them selves and jacked their prices way up.
I have left them.

Man, I just sold my EB Executive Carry. Not too sad, with the money I bought a Les Baer Custom Carry and put the extra $1000 in my pocket. When you get in that class of guns, it's hard to tell them apart.

Like someone already said, you can do a bobtail conversion on any full size or commander size 1911. Any reputable gunsmith can do this job for you or they also make a conversion jig for those that are good working with their hands. You can literally have a bobtail from any brand if you have a preference for something that doesn't come from the factory with a bobtail.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but Smith and Wesson makes a bobtail model that the call "Round Butt" and Kimber also makes a few different bobbed models as well.

That Wilson Combat is pretty much top-of-the-line as far as 1911s go...
But then again, its $3200... the DW Valor about $1500... less than half the price.
Own a couple DWs and the're great 1911's for the price (my $$ limit)... Personally, my knees start gettin alittle weak
when I think of spending 2K+ for a pistol... but if money was not an issue, YES, I'd own one!

Here is one I built a few years ago. Remsport frame and slide. And a bunch of Ed Brown parts.

Thanks. It's a nice pistol, but not a perfect pistol. I don't think I could get a job somewhere assembling 45's. unless they wanted to start a blem line......lol

Wanted to understand how a 45 went together and worked. So I bought a frame, slide and whole grocery bag full of parts and started putting the puzzle together. Worked on it over a couple month period and learned a lot.......like when you screw something up and have to order a replacement, you have a week to think about your mistake. Unless its back ordered......then you have a couple weeks......

I have a DW Valor and it is the best pistol I own. The OP has a DW V-Bob & asked which gun could possibly improve upon it. I had a chance to shoot a Wilson Professional 9mm 1911 a few times and the ragged holes that I produced with it "IMHO" justifies it as a "possible" upgrade to the DW!

CZ-USA Dan Wesson Bobtail Classic Commander

:neener:Here's my '09 10mm tu-tone, last of 'em made. Ain't she pretty? And smooth, flat shootin', eat everything I feed her! Did change the 18lb recoil spring to 22 tho, nothing else, all stock and wouldn't change it!
Would put it up against any other custom/production guns currently out there!(taking nothing away from anyone, cuz I looked and liked 'em all) Kinda like loving blondes over brunettes!!:neener:
