My "new" Sistema has a tight mag-well. The Sistema mag that came with it goes in and locks in fine.
A Pachmayr & Springfield mag mag I have fit very tight. So tight I have to push the mags out with a dowel from the ejection port.
A Colt mag fits fine except, the last 3/8", it tightens up.
The grips screw bushing are not rubbing.
Are any manufacturers mags known to be "looser" fitting than others.
If not what are my options?
 
I'd post this on the gunsmithing forum as I bet one of the hardcore 1911 guys will have an answer for you . . .

If it was me I'd get a bright light and look down the magwell to try and figure out where the restriction is. If it looks like it's one area I'd probably break out the polishing compound and the dremel tool and see if I could smooth it down a hair.

Do all the mags tighten up towards the top, or are they tight right at the bottom of the grip? I had a 1911 that I had to file on the mag release a good bit to allow all mags to seat and release properly.

I've also had a couple of mags that were "fat", that I laid flat on emery and worked back and forth until they would drop free when released. It worked, but was basically a waste of time and I wont do that again.
 
The Springer and Pachmayr fit tight from the get-go. Once they're started they dont get tighter the further up they go.
The Colt mag, fit nice until the final fraction of an inch.
I was thinking of taking a file to it, but thought I'd ask first.
 
Have you tried miking the Systema mag and comparing it to the others?
 
Well I think I got it fixed. I pulled off the grips and slide to get a good look at it, and it looks as though some Argentinian "armorer" chucked the pistol in a vise at the grip screw bushings. The web of the grip frame was bowed in about .030. I took 2 3" pieces of key-stock and rested the frame so the key-stock was under the web. One on either side of the grip screw bushing. A firm tap with a hammer and brass punch on the high spot and the bow was gone. The Colt mag goes in smooth as silk, as does the Sistema mag. The Pachmayr mag is still a little tight.
I know it was a caveman fix, but if the gun functions OK, I'm happy.
