Here's the deal...

Check the pictures below and let me know what you think did this, how bad it is, and how much it matters.

The link, in the lug, won't seat fully forward (to remove the barrel) without pressing it pretty hard and then it seems to click past all of the marred metal.

Would you purchase this (A Springfield TRP) and how much is it worth like this?

P.s. sorry for the pictures. They are a little blurry.

Is it a 5-inch pistol...or a variant with a shortened slide?

I've seen the damage on Commander-length clones without the lower barrel lug modification necessary to clear the spring guide flange with the shortened frame rails and closer placement of the guide rod to the barrel lug.

The butt-end of the guide rod is placed too close to the front of the lower barrel lug. Hard to understand how it can happen in a 5-inch gun with the rails and the impact abutment correctly located. It will happen in Commander-length pistols that haven't had the lower lug cut dead vertical...but in a 5-inch gun, something else is in play.

From what I can see, it may be an easy fix. If you'll be so kind as to take a picture of the guide rod from the side, so I can see how long the rear protrusion is on the guide rod.

If it's what I think it is...it can be addressed in about 2 minutes on a lathe.

This is the way they designed the pistol and I don't have access to a lathe.

I just need to know how much this weapon is worth like this and if it is worth it.

Thanks.

It's not the way it was designed. It's the way it was built. I don't know if the frame rails and impact abutment are out of spec, or if it's just the guide rod...and can't tell without a picture. If it's the frame, it'll have to go back to Springfield for a new frame unless you can find a 1911 mechanic who is practiced at adjusting for such things.

Worth fixing? Sure. If it's the frame rails, it belongs to Springfield. It belongs to Springfield if it's the guide rod, assuming that it's original to the gun and not an aftermarket part that somebody dropped in without checking the clearances.

Everything is original.

My hope is that Springfield is going to take a look at this and deal with it.

This thing only has 1k rounds through it!

Shouldn't happen, but an easy fix. Simply relieve the offending area on the spring guide and dress out the burrs on the barrel lug. Some aftermarket spring guides are relieved there already and I do believe that I recall instructions in one package that mentioned the possible need to do so.
What happened to the right side thumb safety lever? Looks like someone chopped it pretty crudely.

Yeah, they did. I am going to replace the ambi with a RH safety in a short while.

Or I will have Springfield do it.
