Picked up an Inland M1 Carbine on Friday. The barrel and receiver are both Inland marked. Has a six digit serial number and the barrel is dated 1-43. The barrel also has an Arlington Ordnance import stamp. I know the rear sight, bayonet lug and safety are not original and that's no big deal to me. I am curious about the strap and it's vintage. There is some stitching around the middle length wise that I have a picture of. Can anyone give me any idea about it? Anymore information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There's a way of telling the origin of the sling by the way the end tabs are attached. I'll try to find it but my guess is Korean vintage. However, they had Korean rack numbers on everything.

I believe the tip you are showing is called a "D" clip. Does the other side look like the side we see? Look at the end of the oiler and see if there are any initials. Look at the web near the clip and see if there is a printed manufacturer's name...it might be faded.

The other clip style was the "C" clip which was not solid across but looked like a C or U.

The "D" clip does indicate late war or Korean vintage. However, there are opinions all over the Internet about Date of Manufacture and I'm only familiar with the clip ID very casually.

Most of the parts showing including the hand guard being a four pin as opposed to a two pin indicate a post-war arsenal refurbish. It appears to have the 30 round M2 magazine retainer. That's all the guessing I got.:D

Everything stated above is correct. The sling appears to be WW2 or Korean. The tips are brass. Later versions are metal.
Your rifle is a Korean import.
