looking to refinish the stock on my 1970 3 inch wingmaster, it was painted camo and steel wool was used to get it off wood the stock is in great shape but most of the clear coat has been removed, should i use tung oil or true oil ?

My personal recommendation would be Tru-oil but It will be a little more work than tung.
I Tru-oiled a TC Renegade stock, a Ruger 10-22, and my Dad's old M1 Carbine stock and all came out looking better than new using Tru-oil (unless you are looking for a GI correct finish)
Tru-oil really brought out the tiger stripe in the Ruger and Renegade walnut.
Tape over the checkering before applying (rubbing out, applying, rubbing out, applying, rubbing out, repeat)

I think a Remington stock from the 70's needs a polyurethane finish, to keep it looking original. I like the Miniwax poly over a light walnut stain.
