I've never been around feral hogs. Are they good to eat/ Any noticeable difference from "regular" hogs? I would not know what to do to start the processing work. I'll say, 225 pound hog is a lot to work with!
I've killed and field dressed dozens of big wild boar hogs. Have also eaten the meat of numerous wild boar hogs, including one that weighed 384 pounds. Never have found boar meat to have a gamey odor. Yep, sometimes wild boar hogs stink: The stink in on the hogs skin and hair.
IME: Stinking wild hog meat is rotten or contaminated wild hog meat.
Yep, folks attempt to extrapolate "boar taint" in domestic breeding boars to wild hogs. It don't work that way though.
Well Al it sounds like you have the knowledge of a professional butcher. I am not knowledgeable in the breeding of hogs. I am just an old hunter. I will see you on "FTF".
