I posted this over on Taurusarmed.net, and they tried to help, but I think the problem is that most have Pros now, which mine is not.

Here's the issue: I recently acquired a first generation PT111 Millenium (NOT Pro) for a very reasonable price. It had an issue I knew of and am remedying (missing slide stop spring, on order from Taurus), and one I am trying to research with frustrating results.

The problem is the recoil spring assembly. I think I am missing part of it. In this video, I believe this is the complete assembly (4:00 mark): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYlluFgsjhI

Does anyone have a 1st gen Millenium like mine who can tell me if they have the assembly like in the first video or like in this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWvZCsb2c-A

There were a few revisions of the recoil spring assembly which is probably what the confusion over at taurusarmed.net is over. All of them will physically fit but you'll want the latest. Early versions had a tendency to self-disassemble and eject themselves when field stripping or just eject the main spring out the front.

Your pistol has the plastic pins holding the grip to the frame and these tend to break. One of the first symptoms of a broken pin is the slide catch spring coming loose once the disassembly pin is removed. I would replace both of them since you'll have to punch them out to replace the slide catch spring anyway.

I spoke to Taurus CS and they seem to think that the first gen spring can be replaced without knocking the pins out but, should that not be the case, if I send it in they'll do it for free.

I also think I've gotten the recoil spring issue sorted out. I would like to make a quick aside here and say that I've heard some bad things about Taurus CS, but so far my experience has been 100% positive. In fact, since my slide catch spring order had already been picked and pulled, David, the CSR I spoke to today, is sending me the internal recoil spring and guide for free, rather than make me pay separate shipping!

Now here's hoping the dang thing actually works when I finally fire it!
