=====================================

What does this mean to those of us in NC who habitually carry concealed?

Of course it means more places where we can better protect ourselves and our loved ones. But it also means we must be prepared to do so effectively and safely should it become necessary. Train and practice, folks...

I was living near Fayetteville and working on Ft. Bragg when this shooting happened. At the time I carried according to NC law at the time - open carry in your vehicle. At this time there was no provision for ordinary citizens to carry concealed in NC.

How things have changed...

It's about time!

Although I confess that I have been carrying concealed in restaurants for quite some time now.

N.C. is still the new York of the southeast as far as gun laws, but theyre getting better with time.

I've eaten in that same Luigi's many times and thought about that awful evening. It is such an ordinary place, although with articles posted on the wall about that night of terror, that it makes it clear that bad things can happen anywhere. I recall that it was an off-duty cop working at the Kroger grocery store across the street that first responded to the shootings. I seem to also recall that the shooter was drunk and claimed to not remember anything about the shootings.
