22 Ammo cannot find

I actually enjoy these threads on ammunition availability.

Though I rarely comment, it is nice to hear from different people around the

country about their recent experiences at the ammo shelf.

The gun show in Knoxville, TN last week end was very light on rim fire ammunition. Not that I was looking to buy, but every time I thought about checking the ammunition displays, I did not see any 22 long rifle.

The two walmarts near me got Federal bulk packs in today. I bought six @ $23 each and I was the only person there buying ammo at either one.

I am finding more and more at lower prices. Academy in DFW can hold onto it for most of the day it receives them. Wal Mart is a complete miss though.

Last week alone I found a 1400 round bucket and a 325 round box at Academy and Cabelas.

I probably ammo shop four times a week and find 22 once. Everything else is more or less back.

Cabela's had the 333 bulk packs and 100 Velocitor packs in today and you could buy one of each with free shipping. I doubt they lasted long but I got mine bought

Report from northern Illinois. Local Cabela's and Bass Pro are stocked with plenty of ammo, primers and bullets.

Only waiting on powder and .22rf to come back on the shelves.

I think I'll be buying my .22lr in 5000 round cases when things normalize again. Never going to be caught like this again.

At least you guys have had cheap ammo and will no doubt have cheap ammo again. We in the UK have paid a lot for ammo all along.
I just bought 1000 rounds of CCI mini mag at the local rifle club for £70:

My "local" (15 miles away) Wal Mart always has nearly empty ammo shelves. I look every time I go in there, but really, there's not much point! :D I have no idea where the nearest Academy or Cabela's would be... The nearest Bass Pro Shop is 65 miles and the nearest Gander Mountain is 50 miles. I've not ever been to either. Not places I can just go check in after work or hang out waiting for the doors to open.. I'm actually not complaining, as I'd rather be even FURTHER away from any large cities like these.

I've only been to a couple of other local gun shops lately, and they have ammo.... even SOME .22 ammo, but none of that would be considered "cheap".

It's available in my area of central PA at the local gun shop. Just saw it today for $27 for 500 round brick.

@Byron -- I've been able to pick up 1200 rounds in the past few months at Wal-mart (great prices!) all purchased at lunch time! I do it with the help of a site called http://ammo-can.net I just checked the site, and it looks like Clarksville, Columbia, Nashville, Savannah and others have ammo in stock. The app doesn't always get it right -- especially if they are playing games at the wal-mart -- hiding it in the back. That's what the orange color is next to the green -- other customers have said no they don't have it. So just look for stores that are listed all green. TN is a long state, I hope a walmart near you has some in stock!

Around here Bi-Mart usually has ammo.
Limited to 100 rounds of .22 unless it's a bulk pack then it's one bulk box.
Usually CCI Mini Mags at $8 per 100.
Center fire is 100 rounds or 1 bulk box.
They had .223 for $380 a 1000 pack for black Friday and they actually had 10 boxes limited to 2 packs.
I did not get up early just to buy ammo but I probably should have.
Their shelves are usually pretty well stocked.
Wal Mart never has ammo,at least that's what my wife tells me.
I never set foot in there.

Same in Rio Rancho NM

I still have some federals I picked up there last year. No shortage at the time. Unfortunately, I didn't have any spare cash and only bought a few. I don't live in Rio Rancho any more though...

Just this minute picked up a 525 pack from Cabela's for $23.99 with free shipping. Golden Bullets so not the highest quality but better than a plug nickel.

Picked up 3 boxes of 325 packs at Wal Mart this morning at 7 first I've seen there but then again I never got there that early before. One other person in front of me and there was three boxes left after I got mine. Then the associate opened another box with 50 ct boxes and there was more on the cart to be unloaded. Just need to get there early more often.

As do I. This one prompted me to finally place a order (okay, back-order) on Midway's site. It's my first time with them, or with any online ammo retailer, and it's about time I give it a try.

All the store workers are buying the bulk boxes so I never see them unless there in there arms.

Bought some win 100 round hv and have been passing on 50 round thunder duds but will start buying them the way things are going.

Thought I could hold out and find cci or federal but that dream has passed.

Couple of weeks ago I saw Win Xpert 100 rd sticks at Fleet Farm for $7.29 each, limit 2. The nice people said they would be gone soon. My Rugers hate that brand, so I passed. It's here and there, but this was at 9:30 AM on a weekday, and I'm sure it was gone by 4:00 the same day.

22 is still hard to find, but not impossible. Hopefully the manufacturers will increase capacity and then this will abate.

The two Wal-fart stores in this area (O'Fallon & Belleville, IL) have not had .22 ammo on the shelves any time I have been in since Nov., 2012.
It has gotten so bad that both stores have removed their "shelf tag" price stickers!

I visited WM yesterday too and they had no 22LR ammo. They did have some 17HMR however. They had an assortment of centerfire ammunition and I purchased some 38spl and 40 S&W in the 100 ct boxes.

Since you are in TN, you can NOt order from Natchez. They don't sell to individuals within the region they act as a supplier to gunshops.

Not sell to people in state seems strange. Is this law or Natchez policy.

My local area had 22lr a plenty for about 3 weeks, but I think word got out and the shelves were empty again last night.

Not that I need any more - just walked by the shelves and went - oh no, not again.
