Thanks for the Graphic YV!

That is as good a graphic depiction of "Minute of Squirrel" as I've ever seen:D Consider the darkring in the pic is 1/2" dia. and the lighter ring is 1", interpose a silhouette of a treerat's head in the pic
Nice shooting = 50yds, my-o-my:D

Ruger 77/22

Is the Ruger 77/22 more accurate than the 10/22? Enough to justify the extra $$? Comparison with the CZ452 or Kimber?

I read recently that Ruger had a problem milling the 77/22 scope grooves and that some rifles couldn't be brought to zero unless returned to the factory for re-machining. Comments?

I'm interested in a good shooting 22 to encourage my grown son in target shooting. Within reason, I'd rather spend slightly overspend and get a good rifle & investment, than to be economical and possibly disappointed.

Thanks
Bob

Hey BobC. I was thinking about a 10/22 and realised I put more value on accuracy than ROF. So far, bang for the buck what I've narrowed down appear to be:

EAA Biathlon Basic
CZ 452 Trainer
and everything else trails way behind. Not so much for lack of accuracy but for their rapid ascent in price.

I "spec"ed out a 10/22 the way I wanted and it came to almost $1000 even if I did all the work myself.

For less I could get the tax tags and a supressed, fully automatic, 10/22. Of course accuracy would suffer ;)

Depending on what value you put on certain features your conclusions may be quite differant than mine.

I get the gist of your post, but I hope you were kidding when you said "For less I could get the tax tags and a supressed, fully automatic, 10/22."

Well, I purchased a suppressed 10/22 (semi-auto) and it was close to $900 not counting the transfer tax.
Just as a guess I would say that you are talking about something closer to five grand for a select-fire 10/22. And yes, it is possible and has been done and transferable guns are around.
