Almost pulled the trigger on the Charles Daily 22 in CDNN, $149. It is basically a CZ99, so I've read. CD lost the CZ contract and now the little mauser action is in the new Remingtons at a much higher price. But, then I thought about my Ruger MKII pistol and how fun a semi auto 22 is... Maybe I'd be better off with a 10/22. I have a spare Leupold 3x9 that I'd add.

What do you guys think? If I go with ruger how much will it cost to have a scope mount tapped and added?

Lastly, if Ruger, I'm leaning towards the rifle vs. the carbine. Any reason not to get the rifle.

Regardless the rifle will be my truck varmit gun.

Thanks,
tjg

Pine Tree;

A Ruger 10/22 will already have the receiver holes drilled & tapped. The gun will come with a scope adapter for tip-off claw mounts also. Weaver makes a specific 10/22 mount that screws directly to the receiver & I believe other manufacturers do too.

If you do mount that Loopy to your 10/22, be aware that it will present you with some things you may not like. As you did not state that the scope is a rimfire, I'm going to presume that it's meant for centerfire rifle use. That means that the parallax will probably be set for 150 yards & the scope will not give you a clear image at ranges much under 50 yards.

If your proposed .22lr use is from 10 to 125 yards, you may wish to investigate an Adjustable Objective, or A/O scope. If you think that most of your .22 use is going to be under 75 yards, get a rimfire specific scope, you'll almost certainly be happier.

A rimfire specific scope I've got on a 10/22 & am happy with, is the Sightron 3-9X, at about $120.00. Other .22 rimfires of mine wear A/O scopes, none of which are under $100.00. But, I'm an experienced firm believer that in glass you do get what you pay for. It's certainly possible to get glass for a .22 under a hundred bucks. But IMHO the quality is very much lacking.

Charles Daly lost the Zastava contract and now Remington imports Zastava rifles. CZ-USA imports CZ products

The CZ 452s come in a nice variety with dovetails on the receiver. You can even order them from Walmart.

My 452 Special is accurate enough with iron sights to dance a pop can at 100yrds
