I have a 222 remington in which I load my own rounds, a few day's ago someone gave my a box 35, grain bullets in 224 dia, they are marked for the 22 hornet, since I am new to reloading is there a difference in 224 hornet bullets which would make them unuseable for a 222,
thanks for any help.

Early Hornet bullets and guns, still available from Hornady ,were .223. Newer bullets [and guns ] are for .224" bullets . Those marked for Hornet are made to expand at lower Hornet velocities.

The jacket is a bit thinner to help with low velocity expansion in the Hornet but they will work fine in the 222 Rem.

FWIW I shot some handloaded "Hornet" bullets from my .223 today. They worked fine and accuracy was satisfactory.
