I'm considering loading .223 for an AR. So I've been looking at component pricing and so far have not found any .223 bullets available anywhere.

Anyone have a source that you're willing to share?

Are you looking for .223 diameter? IF so that is why I believe you want to look for .224. Gander mountain here in IL always has em. Try taking you search to midway usa.com and search for .224 diameter bullets. Ive gotten them there in the past aswel.

Just checked and there are plenty to choose from at Midwayusa.com. Goo luck and Happy Spending.

Well clarifies and simplifies things a good bit! I have to say that I would never have guessed .224 was correct.

I am doing a group buy directly with Sierra that is ending this weekend. If any of you are interested PM me or check out my post in the Group Buys section.

Montana Gold has a 55gr FMJ-BT in .224 dia for the .223 Remington. I have shot two cases full and they are great. Just over $218 for a case of 3500. Price includes shipping but add $5 to ship to a residence. (Tip: ship to a friendly business and pick up there).

Except for older .22 Hornet
True, they were actually .223. And that is why I used the adverb 'most' to modify 'all'. There are several other examples such as 22 Jet (.223), 22 Newton (.228). But, by and large, most modern commercially available centerfire cartridges in 22 caliber use .224 bullets.

I ordered 1000 from T&T reloading back on 10/10 and got a call last week (10/24) that they were finally shipping...never did get a backorder notice....however, they still are not here....not looking like I want to give them repeat business.

Bowfishrpit sounds like I ordered about the same time as you. I called him on Wednesday last week and he told me they came in and would be shipped out. Thursday evening he called me back and asked me if I still wanted the bullets, I thought that was strange since I had talked to him the night before. Monday they were on my door step when I got home from work. You might want to call him.

For plinking and 3-gun I use Berry's 55gr FMJBT they are cheap and run well.

Wideners

has had a bulk deal on bulk .224 mil style bullets. Both 55 grain and 62 grain. wideners.com ... I think it was $350.00 for 5,000 shipped prepaid... Smaller quantities available.

I don't think they charge the $5 anymore, at least they haven't charged me.
There's no reason why they should either since they ship using USPS at flat rates. If you paid the extra five bucks you should check into that.
