Since the new Call Of Duty game World at War came out my wife has seemed to have rediscovered her interest in guns, thankfully we share the favorite.
The Springfield M1 Carbine WWII Era.
Well we were playing the other night when her grandmother who we are staying with looked at the gun in the game and said "I know that gun, when Bill [her brother] died I found that gun in his living room under the couch with a full clip in it" I didn't both trying to tell her the difference between a clip and magazine at the time but it got me interested. She pulled me into the other room and produced from the closet a fairly good condition M1 Carbine. She told me if I can keep it clean and shoot it I can have it.
Cleaning wasn't a problem, Bill was good with his guns apparently and he has only been gone under a year now. The problem I am having is shooting it, the ammo that is still in the 2 magazines that are with the gun (un-loaded now of course) has a little corrosion on it and I don't want to put that into the gun.
I don't know what is a good buy on .30 carbine ammo and more then that what brands will shoot well in that caliber. I can most likely find it someplace locally, here in town are a couple small shops, but ordering online isn't a problem either.
My question is, to those who own/have owned an M1 Carbine, what .30 Carbine ammo do you recommend?
PS. Can post pics of the gun if anyone is interested.
