.30 Carbine M1 "doubles"

First of all, I am not a gunsmith nor do I ever intend to be one in fiction or real life. That said:

I recently acquired a 1943 Inland .30 Carbine, M1. If I am concentrating on my trigger squeeze while shooting for groups, quite often it will "double" fire, that is fire the intended cartridge plus one more.

Is there an adjustment that can be made or parts that need to be replaced to cure this ill? It's difficult enough to shoot for group without this happening.

An obvious problem would be a bad trigger job or a trigger adjusted to let off at anything less than 6 lbs. Otherwise I'd take a wild guess and blame a damaged disconnector. Sear and disconnector parts should be available online if not locally. HTH

You may be bump firing. Being light as possible on the trigger to ensure accuracy can do this.

+1. That's exactly what you're doing. I did it with my AK once by accident.

It does have a surprisingly good trigger for a military gun, which makes me wonder about a botched trigger job.
Are the sear and disconnector something a once-was auto mechanic could replace or should it be left to a pro?

A light trigger would make it easier to bump fire.

I'd try doing the repair myself and see how it worked.

One man was already put in jail because his ar-15 malfunctioned. Now that they have a precedent for it i'd get that thing fixed ASAP.

I would replace both. A gunsmith may be able to stone and fit them but new parts are cheap.
