This talk of life time NRA membership has me thinking about joining again, but before decide anything I would like to ask if the NRA is still the same as it was 20 years or so ago when I was last a member? At that time I was fairly young, had a wife and young kid and lots of bills to pay, I also thought it was important to be an NRA member, but could only affort the base level membership, at the time the NRA had a rather aggressive telemarketing program with people constantly calling asking for money to fund this initiative or that. Finally one day during a telemarketing call where they were trying to get me to give money to some fund to prevent some legislation the caller told me that being a base level NRA member did not even pay for the cost of all the free mailings they sent out and that being a base level member I was being a drain on the NRA, so I told them I could solve that problem for them, and have not been a member since.
So my question is, would signing up for an NRA life membership now, just be opening myself up to a never ending series of telemarketing calls where I am told I am a drain on the NRA if I don't give more money?
thanks Ike
