Ive fallen in love with the M110

unfortunatly im on a poor mans budget

so maybe someone can help me out

which .308 AR rifle is easier to make as accurate as possable

ive looked at Armalite and DPMS but i know there are others out there

id like to have a 20 inch heavy barrel that i can make a great shooter

which rifle would you choose to start building a solid acurate rifle

also whats a good twist rate for .308?

1-10 is a good twist rate and probably the most common for the 308. Both DPMS and Armalite rifles are easier on the wallet and very accurate. I have a DPMS LR-308 AP4 Quad Rail 16"bbl and it shoots good ammo sub 1" at 100yrds.

I shot a suppressed M110, I loved it, but the 19th group guys I was shooting with aren't very impressed. They say that the prototypes were much better than the rifles they got from Knight. If they shoot more than six rounds a minute they start to lock up. They said they might as well just take their old M-14s off the rack.

Having said that, I shot very well, very easily with it.

I'm in the process of building one too, what keeps me away from the Armalite is the exclusive pattern, their upper/lower matchup has an exclusive diagonal cut. I was looking at the Rock Rivers, because they use FAL mags, but they use an exclusive locking nut on the barrel. The DPMS has more calibers available, and Magpul just announced they are making pmags for it TIE BROKEN. I'm buying at least one DPMS lower to get started.

I'm waiting to see some of the complete rifles CMMG is supposed to be releasing sometime this year. They take G3 mags, which would be nice. If they don't appeal to me, in looks or price, I will go with a DPMS and PMags.

Wow. G3 mags? That would make a difference for me considering I have a buzillion of those mags from when they were 50 cents apiece.

The lowers are already available on their website. As well as a schematic for the bolt mod to work with a DPMS upper

this is probably a stupid question but what about the new LMT 308?

i know LMT makes great stuff and its still not completely out of my budget i just couldnt afford a 15000 knight lol

as far as quality with the actual KA M110 i couldnt tell you either way but its all a moot point as ill never be able to buy one anyway
what i do want is something similar that will shoot real nice

i like the concept even if the execution didnt pan out

so who knows maybe ill get a DPMS and make my own and have something that works
