I'd like to see the military acquire a lot of the .308 DPMS Panther rifles for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Issued one per squad as a designated marksman, this would help extend their reach.

As a second option, maybe they should re-barrel some M-14s for our troops to give them the best mix of combat small arms for our war on terror. I like the M4 for urban use, the shotgun for breaching and the new Marine M-16. I just wish our troops could be able reach out and touch a few more of the enemy.

Also, in Iraq, our snipers should be given a bounty on any insurgent carrying an RPG. This may help cut down on our losses.

God bless our troops: the peacemakers.

The Army Marksmanship Unit is already playing with Armalite AR10s chambered in Remington 300 Short Ultra Mag. If they iron the thing out enough then it's possible that the gun and the chambering will see deployment with active units.

Then there's the Knights SR25 MK11 Mod O that's seeing use with some special forces as well. Said to have much of the reliability problems it had in it's early years now ironed out with the gun being reliable and accurate.

The guns in that family are indeed out there but DPMS isn't one of them.

Agreed, and much the same can be said about the M16...

now if you'll excuse me while I run and dive behind the walls of my sandbag bunker.
