Does anyone have a recipe for this? I'm having a hard time finding anything on Remington bullets. I'm using Winchester 748 powder. Any recommendations on a good charge weight?

A 165 gr bullet and the Win. .308 are a hunting bullet match made in heaven. Although the bullet slection for this load is not for a Remington Fail Safe this data maybe used if the following steps are heeded. Reduce this load by 10% to start This is !!! A MAXIMUM LOAD!!! Winchester 748 42.grs @ 2400 fps. @ a pressure of 43,800 psi., this is with a Federal
210M primer and a 24" bbl.This is Hodgdon data from # 27.

Speers 165 gr. Grand Slam shows 748 with a CCI magnum primer starting at 42 grs and MAXING OUT AT 46 gr.

As with any starting load to be safe always reduce the Max charge weight by 10% then work up. Any componenet change be it brass, primer, bullet, or gun, reduce the starting load and work up.

I used to shoot a lot of them in an M1A with 41.5gr of either 4895, LC brass, and first Federal primers, then Winchester Large rifle regular primers. They had the reputation of occasionally a throwing a 9 which should have been a 10, but I never noticed it.

I've never used 748 for anything but .223. It is terrific with 52gr match bullets.

748 will work well with 165gr bullets but you need to develop your load at or near the temperature that you will be hunting at. 748 is temperature sensitive.

IMR4064 and 165gr bullets in a 308 is a great match. 4064 is not as temp sensitive as ball powder but it is still a good idea to work up at the temps you will be hunting in for the best results.

I have used 748 with 165 grn hornady #3045, mag primer for years... it works great.... i also have used 3031 works great, but 748 is much easier with my uniflo powder dump.

good luck... 165 grn is excellent for hunting...
