Hello,

I am a relatively new owner of an XD9sc (only had it about a year), and while I have several of the 16rnd mags, a nice addition to my XD toys would be a 30rnd magazine. This would be fun for the range and/or kept in the car, btw...carrying it would be...comical.

I have found this and only this online.

Anyone have any experience with these? I've never had any sort of FTF out of my XD, and I don't want to bother with one of these if after the 15th round it won't feed properly...if I have to clear my weapon after that many rounds I may as well not screw with this, right?

Anyway, I was hoping for some firsthand answers from someone with actual experience with a high capacity mag.

...and as a sidenote, if anyone has any experience with that online vendor, I'd love to hear about that too.

thanks for any comments.

I bought a 32 round mag from promag for my XD9

http://www.promagindustries.com/springfi.asp

Other than taking forever and a day to ship out (took me 3 weeks to get it from my initial order, then had their reps lie to me about when it would get here and when it would actually ship so I could get a tracking #) I'm satisfied with the purchase.

After the second time of blasting through 32 rounds rapid fire I got bored and back went the 16 rounders. I'm finding myself shooting my .22's more than any of my other guns :p

Thanks for the reply and the link. So you got bored pretty quick...is it just sitting in your safe collecting dust now? Or do you keep it around and loaded for...well.....just in case?

i have two xd 40's and when i just had my first the service model i ordered one of the 20rd mags just for the heck of it. it worked pretty good with minimal issues. it looks funny and is awkward but it worked. i osed it a couple times, and it has been in my range bag ever since. it looks really crazy inserted in my xdsc .40 though!:D

it is a neat thing i guess but i wouldn't trust it in a real world situation, i would use it maybe fully loaded and beat someone with it. but i wouldn't trust my life with it though. that is why i have 9 12rd factory mags. i have never had any problems out of them and the work great!

I actually just got the mag a couple of weeks ago, and have only used it the once. I'm sure I'll use it again, but even the thought of roasting through 16 rounds makes me think "hmm...I just blasted through a couple bucks in a few seconds." It'll be nice when I start shooting more, won't have to reload as often.

If I can't hit whatever I'm shooting at with the first 16 JHP's, then it must be my time :neener:

weeelllll.....I have a neighbor with a couple aggressive dogs. My guess is, and I'm inexperienced, so I may be wrong...but my guess is that if I shoot 8 or 10 rounds at each animal and hit him with some to most of them, then it will die sooner than if I shoot 2 to 3 rounds at each animal.

And then I might still have some left over for when my irate neighbor comes bounding up the hill.......

just as an outside-edge of possibility example. I guess I could run a 16rnd dry on the dogs and hope shooting my neighbor won't be necessary.

Rather than taking the time to load and insert a cumbersome 30 rnd mag into the XD you should be loading 2 16 rounders and practicing your reloads

When I go to the range I load various numbers of ammo in my mags and the occasional snap cap and do various stoppage drills and reloads

Sure that 30rnd mag looks neato and all, but it serves no useful purpose (I hate saying thing like that) in a pistol

now if they made a keltec sub2000 with XD mags, then you better order a pile of those 30rnd mags :D

The other good thing I have to say about it is, it's still a really balanced pistol with the extra 16 rounds. It was still comfortable to hold and natural to point.

We actually have two XDs...one tends to remain at home, and we could leave a full 30/32 rnd clip in it in case we need to grab a pistol to turn the dogs into garden fodder.

I actually think it looks pretty asinine (My subcompact especially, I'm sure, would look profoundly silly). My curiosity is more along the lines of how it might function or not. And it sounds like no one has had any trouble, though it doesn't sound like anyone has bothered with these things much either.

I find that surprising, but very good to know.

Thanks for the comments, guys.
