I saw this topic and thought you were talking about http://classicarms.us.

They have Romy "G" build by Heavy Metal Guns.

It'll cost you $370 actually, cuz these use US magazines for 922r compliance. IMO, paying $370 + s&h&such ain't a bad deal at all.

The extra $20 gets you a US made pistol grip and slant brake so you can use any magazine you like (such as military surplus)

Edit: now that I think about it, ya might be able to get one of these and sell the Pro-Mag(s) it may come with to buy your muzzle brake and pistol grip. Might be closer to $350 + extras after all....

Take a look at the Saigas. I have a Saiga IZ-140 .308 and I'm lovin' it. The top end .308 models are $370. You can get 7.62x39 and 5.56 models for $250 I believe. Not a proper AK with pistol grip etc, but I like the sporter configuration just fine and it can be converted if you desire.

I'm 99.99% sure my dealer could get a Century WASR via Zander for less than $350 last time I looked. (30 days ago)

Dave

you can find low-cap AKs for well under $300 (only take 5 or ten-round mags)

WASR-10s and such run for about $350 but will cost $400 after S/H, transfer, and check fees off the internet

Buying a Saiga will go about $250, then will cost another 150-250 bucks to convert it to AK-style dpending on how you do it.

Yugo underfolders will cost about $475-480 off the internt and after the extra fees, but are much better than WASRs. It's what I'm currently saving up for. If you plan on getting a WASR, then you should ask around about them to WASR owners because they can end up being bad rifles due to sighting and magwell problems. Get some info before buying one that you cant inspect yourself to make sure

The $349 Romy G from classicarms ain't a bad rifle at all. I got one a couple weeks ago, no complaints. It's noticably nicer than the slightly cheaper WASR ak's.

youre from michigan, hit up your local Dunhams and check out their WASR-10 selection, about every Dunhams store has them starting at about $320

Agree with mil-dot, if you're getting a cheap one anyone, just get the romy-g. (I think wasrs are okay for a super cheap AK, but american assembled romy-g types are going to be nicer.)

I keep meaning to get a saiga, but are the magazines about $40 a pop? Kicking myself for passing up that saiga 12 for <$400 last month.

Dunham's was going to be my suggestion too. You should definitely take a look there, they have a pretty decent selection. The last time I looked at an AK in Dunham's I found a great one for $450, but they also have good ones (the WASR should be the cheapest) for $200 and up. I agree, try Dunham's.

Might want to look for a used gun, perhaps a mak 90 or SAR 1. Can be good deals found.
