.357 Sig or something I dont have. I need a new caliber . Help me pick one.

Well been thinking about getting a .357 Sig in a Glock maybe. Sigs cost a fortune it seems. I was thinking about a .357 magnum with a 4 or 6inch barrel. 10mm maybe? I have right now.9mm,.45acp.38spcl. .357mag in a 2-1/2inch. .22lr all in pistols. So i want something I dont have. More for range time than anything else. Though a Glock in .357 can double as a carry gun. Or something else in that size range. I just dont know what to get. Im sure you will all help though.

I like the .40 S+W for self-protection. It stops as good as anything and is smaller than .45 for more rounds/mag. The Glock 27 is my favorite small .40. It will take any Glock .40 mags, too.

Well, 10mm is a dying caliber.

38 Super or 9x23 would be pretty neat depending on what sort of gun you're wanting.

And I've had a hankerin' for a 41 Magnum Smith for a while now.

My two first choices would be 9x23 or 10mm.

Glock 23

I noticed your list didn't include .40S&W. I bought a Glock 23 (compact frame) in .40S&W as my first gun and have been happily shooting it ever since. It fits my hand very well and is extremely comfortable to shoot. mercedesrules mentioned a Glock 27 (sub-compact frame) in .40S&W. In my experience, the subcompact frames are a little bit tougher to shoot because your little finger doesn't have a rest. I have also heard that that is even tougher with a hotter round like .40S&W. A Glock 23 would also be a great gun for concealed carry, if you are interested.

Forgot to mention...

Because they are the same size at the base (you probably know the technical info better than I do) you could just buy a .357 SIG barrel and swap that in to shoot .357 SIG, if you are interested in it. Or vice-versa. Also, .40S&W has less kick than .357 SIG, so that might also be a factor in your choice.

Many of the Sig models do cost quite a bit but around here the 239 is fairly reasonable. A 239 in .40S&W would make for a very nice option. I also agree that the Glock 23 is an excellent choice as well. Although I've never shot one, I understand that the .357 Sig in a Glock is quite a handful. I also think that a 6" S&W or Ruger .357 makes a great range gun, it would really add a new dimension to your current collection. You certainly have many options to choose from. Good luck, Mike

How about a Springfield Armory XD-40? They don't cost as much as a Glock, but have what I see as some better features than a Glock. For one thing, the trigger is crisper. Another is that it has a grip safety like the 1911.

Now, if you're thinking .357 Sig, how about the Springfield XD-357?

I have a SIG 239 in 357, it is a snotty little round! I am going to get a 40 barrel & mags for it to have some flexibility. With Glocks & SIGS you can interchange 357 & 40. I carry 9mm & 40 most of the time. 357 is too expensive for adequate practice.

Get a .44 mag

Get a smith .44 mag with a 5" or 6" bbl. Performance center version if you can afford it.

Great trigger. Good sights. Extreme accuracy. No more chasing your brass around.

Shoot it with Titegroup or AA#2 at about 850 fps and it will feel like a 45 auto... only way more accurate.

I have a Glock 31 357 sig most accurate pistol I have (well for me anyway ) I love the load bang and big flash the guys at the range alway have to come over and see what I am shooting.
