Not sure what you mean by "fairly fast" Bernie, but I like the gas-checked 158gr SWC-HPs from Rimrock Bullets for mid-range loads in my .357s. They don't lead my barrels, they shoot well, and the hollow point is a pretty good sized cavity. Besides all that, Rimrock ships their bullets in plastic boxes that you can reuse for your completed handloads.:)

a good source for 158 gr. LSWCHP bullets
Those are, in general, soft swaged lead bullets, not hard cast. It's so they will expand and hold together.

How fast you can push them really depends on fit. These can take anything the.38 Spl can dish out if they fit the gun.

Those RimRock bullets posted above are what Buffalo Bore uses in some of their over-the-top 38 loads. My experience with a few boxes of ammo was very good.

I use swagged 158gr LSWC/HP bullets in my replica FBI Loads. I can push them to 900 fps without any leading. I'm using HS-6 and a magnum primer.

Here are the two bullets I use:

Horndy here - https://www.midsouthshooterssupply....rain-semi-wad-cutter-hp-lead-pistol-300-count
And here - https://www.midwayusa.com/product/4...n-lead-semi-wadcutter-hollow-point-box-of-300
Powder Valley also has the Hornady bullets.

Speer here - https://www.midsouthshooterssupply....-grain-semi-wad-cutter-hollow-point-500-count
And here - https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2...n-lead-semi-wadcutter-hollow-point-box-of-500

It looks like only the Hornady bullets are in stock right now but I'm sure if you look around the NET you can probably find the Speer bullets in stock too.

Also look at RoseDistribution.com I’ve had good results with the Zero 158gr SWCHP. Their prices are right. 1,000 or more gets free shipping.

My favorite 158 LSWC-HP for .38 Spl +P, is the Speer swaged model. Softer than the Hornady version, it reliably expands beautifully like an advertisement, and is very accurate at full tilt. A worked up max charge of Power Pistol from the Alliant guide, shot in a 3" Model 60, has my ProChrono Digital saying an avg of 927 fps. Unique works well too, with velocities of just over 900 fps. These loads are NO JOKE, and hit very hard. Good luck.
