I like that one too.

A few more inches do not make the gun significantly more unwieldy, but add a lot of accuracy. So, 6" minimum, unless you want to CCW without a jacket.

Btw, any woman that tells you that something below 6" is enough is just trying to spare your feelings. :D

I carried a 6" Colt M357 my first tour in Viet Nam, and my only other .357 as of this writing is a 5 1/2" Colt SAA. If I were looking for a concealable .357, I'd go with the Ruger SP 101 in the 3 1/8" barrel.

In fact, when I go through my gun safe, I don't find any 4" barrels. I have a Colt DS with a 2" barrel, and everything else is 5 1/2" or more.

For general plinking & range use, I'd go with a 6".

No - change that - I did go with a 6" 686. Bought a new -1 around 15 years ago & still have it.

However, if it were going to have to serve as a nightstand gun, given the choice of 4" or 6", I'd go with a 4".

Like so many things in life, it's not whether you have a 4" or 6" barrel, but what you do with the barrel you have.
