For anyone who shoots .40 minor with 180gr FMJ, what is your load?

You don't say what gun you're loading for, or, what OAL you are planning to use, but, at the same OAL as factory .40, 3.5 grains of Titegroup should put you about where you want to be, but, if you're planning to use at a major match, you need to chrono out of your gun because every barrel seems to chrono a little different.

I'm setting these up for my dad. He is a beginner and could use the reduced recoil. I know the recoil of factory .40 is not helping since he can hit with the .22 but not with his P226/.40.
About 3.5 of TG is the plan. He won't be using them in competition but I will chrono them so they make minor anyway. I'll be using whatever the book value for OAL, 1.25 I think. I've used that same length for hotter loads for this same gun so I know it chambers.

180 grain loads in the 850-900 fps range should be the ticket. Heavier bullets at slower speed have lesser perceptible recoil. If it's a new pistol or one with a fresh recoil spring, you may have problems getting reduced loads to cycle. .40 SIGs have stout springs!
