Loading 40 cal. S&W 165 gr. copper plated bullet . Using bullseye powder , 5.2 grs. This load is very accurate but feels a little hot . Lot of recoil . What do you think ?

Never loaded 165 in .40. 4.8-5.0 is max with 180's. I load 4.0 with a 180gr cast. Just enough to cycle the action reliably on my G22. Also very accurate ( for a Glock...).
As long as no firing pin smear on primers or smiley faces on case heads, you're ok.

I have not done much load development with Bullseye and 40S&W, but did chrono one of my loads:

40S&W, P229, 3.9"
COL: 1.142"
Xtreme, 165gr, CPRNFP, Bullseye, 5.1gr, CCI500
Average: 959
ES: 15
SD: 6.7
Force: 337
PF: 158
Velocities: 966, 960, 951, 966, 955

That's an easy powder to get sideways. It's in a few places as having the most nitroglycerin. I might be wrong. I load it for numerous calibers but it's my most watched load. I'd be interested if it burns quicker. My .40 is a ported Glock and "feel" the same way about the snap.
