I am thinking of getting either a G22 or a G37. I am not crazy about the 40 caliber due to it's muzzle flip. :cuss:

Of those of you that have a 45Gap, how is the muzzle and recoil??????

I would get a 21 SF and that would be the end of my search, but even with the reduced grip it's still too big for my hands.

Please tell me as much as you can about the GAP.

I would like to own one, but will say the lack of stores that carry the Gap ammo is making me rethink things.

I carry and shoot the .45GAP.

I happend upon it, when trying to determine which Glock subcompact to get.
I handled & shot the Glock 26 (9x19mm), 27 (.40S&W), 33 (.357SIG) & 39 (.45GAP).

For me, felt recoil is less with a .45GAP than with the .40S&W & .357SIG.
Recoil is more of a push, less snap with the .45GAP when compared to the .40S&W.
I'm also more accurate shooting the .45GAP than with the .40S&W, .357SIG & 9x19mm.

As much as the naysayers want to say the .45GAP is dead, four state law enforcement agencies have adopted the .45GAP.
As long as law enforcement supports a particular round, that round will not die out.
So, the .45GAP will be around of quite some time.

Purchase ammo online.
It's cheaper and the prices bring it within that of .45ACP ammo.

After shooting .45GAP for about 1-2 years and .40S&W for about 6 years, I'm sold on the .45GAP and perfer it over .40S&W.

Check out the Springfield XD45 or S&W M&P 45 and you'll lose interest in the .45 GAP.

No reason for GAP to exist except for Gaston's ego, I bet those LE contracts came from Glock delivering the guns at cost or less as the only hope of keeping it alive.

The Glock 21SF helps but my Glock 21 is a block. The SF is still inferior in my hand compared to the XD or M&P. I'd buy a 20SF though if it ever is made.

I have a 9mm Beretta 92f and a Sig P229R .40 and shoot both not a lot of difference in muzzle flip between the two. There is tho more with the .40 but manageable. At least for me.

Back when I owned a G37 and G22 I found the recoil levels of both pistols to be very similar. Not different enough to warrant a comparison between the two. I'd scratch that criteria off the list and focus on other aspects of the two pistols.

The only advantage in my mind that you would gain from using the .45gap over the .40S&W would be a larger hole on your target which is of course important. However, you sacrifice magazine capacity by 50%, and ammo is much more expensive and a lot harder to find. In fact, a lot of premium defensive loads are not offered in .45gap such as Winchester's Ranger Bonded or Federal's Tactical Bonded.

It's 33%, not 50%. :neener:

I think the G22 is the better choice.
There's really not much difference in recoil/muzzle-flip between the two, but the G37 only holds 10 rounds while the G22 holds 15 in the magazine.

The whole reason that .45 GAP exists is so you can have .45 power in a 9mm/.40 size gun. Best example: compare the size of a G36 to a G39. Size matters for concealed carry.
