Spent a day at the range last week, and decided that the results merited discussion. I have a rifle built from an unfired condition AK74 kit (it's either Romanian or Bulgarian, I can't remember), and it has a Texas Weapon Systems rail and Zeiss Z-point sight. Now a red dot at long range isn't the best for acute accuracy testing, but it was all I had at the time. Targets are the B29 half size silhouette.

At 200 yards, the "ball" of the red dot covered the width of the target, but I tried to index centered top to bottom. I can't really "see" the center of the target, but as long as one is consistent in holding, groups way smaller than the 8-10inch width of the red dot can be achieved. The ammo was regular Russian military surplus from the 1080 spam cans. I can't wait to test it with a suitable, conventional target scope. The 5.45 would seem to be evey bit as accurate as the .223 from a similar platform gun.
