Anyone have any leads on 50-round boxes of JHP? I've bought 9mm Gold Dot from OutdoorAmericaStore, and the Proload site has Win Ranger, but that's all I can find. I'd really like to find Rem Golden Saber .45ACP in 50-round boxes, although I'm not so sure it exists.

Try Walmart. The one where I live has 50 rnd boxes of Winchester USA of JHP at least in .38 Spl. Don't know about .45 ACP however.

Sportsmansguide has Remington JHP in 50 round boxes. Walmart has Remington 100 rd boxes of 45 JHP for $23.97.

Sportsmansguide does NOT have Remington Golden Saber in 50rd boxes. They have regular Remington in 50rd boxes and GS in 25 rd boxes.

Shmackey,

It IS out there. My dad has a box of 50 Golden Saber .45 ammo sitting at home but he got it from my uncle, who's in law enforcement and gets it from work. I don't know if it's available to buy to the general public but I'd have to think it's around somewhere.

I get the Winchester Personal Defense JHP from Walmart.
50rd of 9, around $16, 50rd .45 right at $20.

It's good stuff, a tad on the hot side, according to some chrono results I've seen.

I second the GA Arms Gold Dot, though it is +P. For the price, you're hard pressed to find a better deal, especially if you can get it when their dealer is at a gunshow. 50 rounds of a premium, known-entity hollowpoint for $22-25? Gotta love that!

I'd love to pick up some Winchest JHP or Remington JHP at walmart, but I haven't heard anything about how these hollowpoints perform. What bullet design are they using? Is this an SXT bullet? It's sure not a Gold Dot or Hydrashok. How's the expansion/penetration on these bulk rounds?

I'd rather shoot Winchester Ranger T LE ammo for $20.50 per 50. That was my carry load in 180gr when I still carried a .40. The 9mm is $18.25. Those are the prices from www.proload.com.

I use the GA Arms regular .45 185 JHP as carry ammo in a lightweight 4" 1911. The best part? It's reasonable enough that I can afford to pull practice ammo out of the same can I pull my carry ammo from.

The +p runs nicely through full sized 1911s, but it's just way to strong a load for a 4" aluminum framed gun..
