Nice revo Walkalong.
I'm thinking of a Ultradot for my .357 as well now that it's socially acceptable.
Are there any distortions that might cause eye strain when you have both eyes open?
I have a Reflex sight that has slight magnification, maybe 1.1X, that seems to bug my eyes after a while.

I only shot it a little bit today. I mostly shot the Trooper to get some numbers. I shot two groups with the 586 and a few other shots. The Ultra Dot was very clear and using both eyes shooting at lumps on the berm seemed to do well, and although it wasn't enough to give a good judgment, I think it will do fine for that. The field of view is small, as well as the dot. It isn't for speed shooting, but will certainly work well for target shooting which is what is is designed for. It will do fine for general plinking as well. I was impressed enough with it that right now I have no plans yet to switch it out.

The rifle range was busy with a match, and the longer pistol pits were full, so all I shot was a 7 yard target through the chrono. I wasn't at my best today. I can certainly shoot a better group with the Trooper than I did today, but it does illustrate how much difference the red dot makes for someone who can't see the sights like they used to. It is soooo much easier to shoot a good group if you know where the gun is pointed for sure.

Shot at 7 yards through the chrono at 5 yards. Numbers on target. I adjusted the Ultra Dot after the group. I left it a bit low at 7 yards, but centered the POI. The temps have been somewhere between hot and hades here the last couple of weeks. It was 96 degrees in the shade mid morning at the range today.

Certainly not my best effort, but here it is. 25 yards. Yanked one down badly. I shot six loads today. The two proven ones shot pretty well considering I wasn't that steady today, a couple more shot "OK", and a couple shot poorly.

This target is 125 Gr Powerbonds with a heavy taper crimp over 9.1 Grs of N340 set off with a WSP primer. That load runs between 1325 and 1350 out of 6" barrels and averaged 1286 FPS @ 96 degrees last time out from the 4" 586. (The one hole group in the target in the last post)

While I like 4" 586s I tend more towards a 581 and have almost gotten another 586 to delug and round butt. That said i would like a 6" with an adjustable front sight for longrange shooting.
